We stayed at Quinta d'Abegoa's apartment, Casa do Souto, which is very cosy and ideal for two people. Everything is really well thought out so the apartment felt bigger than it actually was. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The outside space is beautiful - we loved sitting out, listening to the birds and the bells from the sheep, while enjoying the views of the both the castle and over towards the mountains and Spain. We made the most of being able to walk to restaurants in Marvao (although it is uphill all the way!) but we also cooked at the property - the kitchen is tiny but is very well-equipped and has everything you need to self-cater. Our host, Rosa, looked after us extremely well, bringing us breakfast every day, and nothing was too much trouble. We love the area around Marvao and will definitely return for another stay at Casa do Souto.

Absolutely loved the location. Every single little detail was thought through, everything that you could possibly need was available throughout all the rooms. Cleanliness was impeccable, nothing to complain about. The beds were extremely comfortable and we liked the touch of having different pillows for different preferences. The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Loved the pool table. Perfect little piece of heaven. Perfect to seek some peace and quiet. Friendly hosts and easy check in. Great communication.

The house was amazing. Six suites, extremely comfortable in the winter. Heat and an amazing fireplace. We travelled with kids and they had an amazing time in first floor playing ping pong. The house is big and can easily accommodate groups. Totally recommend it. There is also a very appealing pool outside for summer stays.

The house is really comfortable and clean, with very good and large areas in new condition. We’d found all the amenities we need for the 2 days. The surrounding is very quiet and calm, but at a walking distance of nice restaurants and the village of Portagem, what was super convenient for the group. It was also very appreciated that we’d been allowed to perform a late check in, since we had to arrive late in the evening. Joaquina was very kind and supportive.

This house is a real hidden jem, a bit far away from Lisbon, but definitely worth going. If you want to to escape civilisation for a while, this is a place for you. We spend a lovely weekend with our friends in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the house. The house is fully equipped with everything you need, it has enormously spacious dining area, two fireplaces, a lovely terrace with a barbeque zone and a breathtaking forest view. Neibourhood is quiet, but you have a lot of places to go: two ancient castles in 15 mins drive, railbike marvao (google it) in 25 mins and a lot of hikes and waterfalls also in a close distance. Actually one hiking path starts right from the house - this is an easy 1,5 hour hike around the lake. Host are beautiful and very welcoming, also offering you lots of options - dinner, wine tasting, massage etc. Guys are also producing wine and you can taste it anyway as 1 bottle is a welcome gift. I never put 10 out of 10 in my reviews but this place broke my heart.
