Tai and his parents are lovely, friendly and helpful. Little Tara (the cat) was a joy to watch, playing around with her little ball as we were having breakfast. The food is amazing, the common area very laid back, a place to enjoy a cold beer next to the fireplace. Tai happily drove us to the city centre and gave us several useful recommendations for restaurants, places of interests, onsens,... The room was spacious and the futons comfortable. The showers and toilet rooms were very clean and well looked after. It's a quiet area, a place to truly relax and use as a base for exploring the surrounding area 😊

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. Auberge is a beautifully designed, minimalist small family run hotel. The rooms are a great size, comfortable and the bathrooms have lovely hot water onsen baths! What sets this place apart is the amazing food you can have for dinner and breakfast. It’s the best feeling coming down the stairs to eat in their lovely dining space, experience the most amazing food and wine pairings of your life and then easily walk upstairs to bed. Thank you for an amazing stay, we will definitely be back and recommend to all our friends.

A 3-minute drive from JR Gero Train Station, Izumi-so offers Japanese-style rooms, an indoor and an open-air natural hot spring bath and Japanese cuisine. The hotel houses a souvenir shop and drinks vending machines. Free parking is available, and a free pick-up can be requested from the station. My husband and I had an incredible experience at Izumi-So. Facilities were clean, owners were welcoming and incredibly friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend !

Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout. The location was incredible and the property beautiful. Our room was stunning and very spacious. We loved the traditional japanese baths each day, and the staff and service was top notch. Our highlight was the daily breakfast - all locally sourced seasonal products that changed daily. We also booked a traditional Daiseki dinner, a multi-course Japanese dinner which featured the freshest sashimi, tempura, Hida wagyu beef and other delicious dishes. Very highly recommend.
