We didn’t include breakfast in our stay as it was for 6 nights but did buy tickets for one morning and it was delicious for a reasonable price

The apartment has a hot tub and room service. A lot of space in the annex, private, had its own parking and staff provided exceptional service.

Takasagoya Ryokan offers a public bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Zao Onsen, 200 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan features family rooms. A friend and I stayed there during one week-end. It was a very good experience. The room is quite large and very clean. The highlight of this stay was for sure the dinner. The food was delicious, made with high quality products and with a large selection of different dishes. The owners were very nice with us. If you want to have an experience in a traditionnal family owned ryokan, I highly recommend to stay there :) It is exactly the kind of place that I hope will still exist in some years!

The guest house has family rooms. Fantastic location, right on Uwanodai slope - actual ski-in ski-out. Host was extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was great and good value. Nice draught beer! Shower in room with a shared hot bath that could be booked for free. There's a ski/boot room in the basement that opens onto the slope. The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way.

The Onsen Station on the Zao Chuo Ropeway is located within a 6-minute walking distance from the property. Nishi Zao Kogen is a 25-minute drive away. Yamagata Zao Onsen Ski Resort can be accessed by ski lifts and aerial lifts that are located within a 5- to 10-minute walking distance from the property. Friendly staff, excellent meals, traditional ryokan with full of histories!!!

Set 500 metres from Zao Onsen Ski Resort, Pension Puutaro offers 3-star accommodation in Zao Onsen and features a garden. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, luggage storage space and bicycle parking, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The hostess was incredibly warm and welcoming, the room was very comfortable, and the location was also quite good! It was a truly wonderful experience!

Zao Onsen Ski Resort is 18 km from the guest house. Yamagata Airport is 19 km from the property. I spent one night here and would have loved to stay longer. Hide-san created a little paradise in his house. As a solo traveller or couple, if you are looking for a social/local experience with long nights of talking and sharing with the other guests, this is the perfect place. Home-cooked dinner based on donation was the best food I've had in Japan so far.

Guests can refresh with a quick 10-minute massage at the lounge or request for longer massages in their rooms. A free shuttle is available from Zao Onsen Bus Terminal, which is also a 10-minute walk away. The hotel, staff, and onsen were all amazing. The hotel is located right next to the ski slope, and the breakfast had a massive variety. Onsen were clean and well maintained. Overall, it's an amazing hotel we will be back.
