The farm stay features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This quirky house has been lovingly restored and updated by Nobu and her family who live next door. The amount and types of wood used in the construction of the house is incredible, from the wooden staircase and hand-crafted hand rail, to the curved wooden bathroom, giving the feel that you are inside a barrel. It includes the washing machine, a huge shower room and separate, very snazzy toilet. With all mod cons, we had a very comfortable week here. Even the futons were OK for this old, unaccustomed body. The bedroom is covered in beautiful, traditional tatami. The 3rd floor loft has a hammock and chairs with lovely views of the countryside, which you can also enjoy from the dining table downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and basic condiments are provided (oil etc), so it was easy to self cater. The house has air conditioners upstairs and down as well as kerosene heaters so we were very cosy despite record amounts of snow. We parked directly out front and the watering hose did a good job keep the area clear of snow. The supplied snow shovel and brush were a life saver. Our host family were sweet, taking time to ensure we understood all the facilities and gave us gifts of local food.

The host is most gracious and goes the extra mile for his guests. Breakfast was good and plentiful.

A ski pass sales point and ski equipment hire is available. You can engage in various activities, such as skiing and hiking. The room is cozy and the onsen is very nice. Most importantly, all staff were helpful especially when I lost my car key. They arranged a car to pick me back and on the next day, took me to find it. Luckily, it was found and I was so blessed to choose this ryokan. Highly recommended!

The hotel has a karaoke lounge, a ski rental shop, and can assist with ski lesson reservations upon request. This hotel has the best location , walkable from echigo station, and close proximity to many restaurants and nearby ski slopes. Hotel breakfast was good , wide spread. We tried their dinner buffet, it was very good too though little over priced. The best part was the onsen, loved the outdoor onsen in the snow, wasn’t too crowded. Morning was empty.

Just 3 minutes' walk from Akakura Onsen Ski Resort, Kogakuro Onsen Hotel is a 12-minute drive from beautiful Imori-ike Pond. It is a 15-minute drive from JR Myoko Kogen Train Station. the owners and staff were so friendly and accomodating- they were amazing. Mieko was great - so easy to ask information from and she then made multiple bookings for us. location was perfect, facilities including Onsen, guest lounge and breakfast were great.
