The ryokan’s peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful onsen made it a truly unforgettable experience — one of the highlights of our entire trip. The rooms were elegant and comfortable, the hosts incredibly kind and welcoming, and every meal was a feast — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Thank you for the wonderful memories. Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. The warmest, most helpful staff who rushed out with towels and helped to wipe our stuff down upon knowledge that we were caught in the cold. The private room onsen was fabulous, everything was so clean, our ryokan was enormous and we had such a lovely stay. Would love to stay here again...

This ryokan stands out for its excellent service. All the staff were cheerful, polite, and genuinely welcoming. Both dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared, with a wide variety of dishes and excellent taste. You really shouldn’t eat too much beforehand, as the dinner here is plentiful and delicious. The location is great for those planning to visit Kamikochi — it’s just a short walk from the bus station to the ryokan. It’s a perfect place to relax and recover after exploring Kamikochi. Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of me and my family.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. This is my 3rd visits to Takayama this year during different seasons and this trip is mainly as a base for visiting Kamikochi. I booked this inn away from city center to experience the hospitality of a small family-run inn and the dining experience with wine pairing. Auberge Hida no Mori didn't disappoint 🙏🤗

Offering traditional Japanese-style accommodation with spacious public baths, Yatsusankan Over 6 years old is a 6-minute walk from JR Hidafurukawa Train Station. This hotel was one of the few Ryokans that truly keep the history alive. From the front desk to the structure of the hotel, I felt like I was taken back in time to the Edo Period. The hospitality of the hotel was like entering into a 5 star hotel. They truly explain the details and try to meet all your needs. The hotel and onsen was absolutely beautiful. The food was the best I've had at a Ryokan so far. This hidden gem is truly a hotel I'd recommend to anyone. The Hida village is an absolute beauty as well, with not too many tourists at the time I went. Everywhere I look was just so mesmerizing. I truly felt spoiled and rested at this Ryokan. This place made my entire Japan trip a memorable one.

Location, private onsen in the suite, kaiseki dinner is elegant and delicious, so is the delicious breakfast, both served in our room, it’s a great experience. The staffs are very warm and helpful. It gave free entrance ticket to the big public onsen which is a great extra benefit.
