We overnighted in Swellendam and were delighted to be able to stay in the oldest house in the town. A beautiful room with wide yellowwood floors and ceiling. Not often you get to stay in a place that is 200 plus years in South Africa. Lizette gave us a tour of this special house and provided rusks and a flask of hot water for coffee during load shedding, and some anti mosquito spray. Small touches that made us feel very welcome.

We absolutely loved our stay in the Red Caboose! What a treat to sleep in a beautifully restored train – everything was spotless and so thoughtfully prepared. The wood for the fire was ready and waiting, which made it extra cozy. The host was extremely communicative and responsive, making our stay effortless.
