Located in a 100 year-old Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Ryokan Hostel K's House is located in Shizuoka, a 7-minute walk from JR Ito Train Station. Love this Ryokan. My second stay. Love the room that opens out to a small Japanese garden onto the river. Onsen on the property is so lovely. The lovely European girl who checked us in was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. She stood out amongst the rest who were average. A beautiful stay in a very quiet desolate town. My favorite hostel due to its exceptional cleanliness and amenities.

33 km from Koibito Misaki Cape in Shimoda, 横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and open-air bath. We have never experienced this kind of luxury in our lives….. this place and environment totally blew our minds! We had te luxury to stay in the villa, and exceeded all our expectations. The views, the pool, the sauna, the hotspring tub, the fireplace, the BBQ… it was more than enough to really end our holiday totally relaxed! We were supposed to go to Tokyo the last 3 days of our holiday, but we where glad that we canceled that, and went to Shikuoka instead! The falls and wasabi fields and hikes nearby were great excursions, and then come back to the villa was a real dream! Also there were no other guests, so we had the whole place for ourselves…. The breakfast and dinner were great. We enjoyed some of traditional Japanese dishes. Also we enjoyed coffee at the balcony over looking the Pacific Ocean. The location was quiet and privacy was ensured, so we were able to maintain our Nonerelaxing time. Last but not least, guest room with private open-air bath was great.

Exceptionally attentive staff with some of the best hospitality we've ever experienced. The private bath was amazing, with beautiful views, and the food was excellent. It was a shame that, due to travel plans, we couldn't stay longer and enjoy the local area, especially given the extra complimentary services and amenities that were offered for beach-going - very thoughtful!

AWA Nishi-Izu was a hotel I stumbled upon on Instagram by chance, so I had no expectations, but it turned out to be absolutely wonderful. There are hot springs, delicious tea, and over 20 varieties of sake from different regions of Japan, all of which you can enjoy freely (all-you-can-drink). The most enchanting feature is the garden, where persimmon and mandarin trees are laden with fruit. You can pick them yourself anytime, replenishing your vitamin C while basking in the beauty of nature. The lobby library is stocked with books and magazines about yoga, travel, and more—perfectly aligning with my interests. While the location is quite remote, simply being here and daydreaming is an unparalleled joy. The rooms feature Western-style beds paired with tatami flooring, providing a spacious and comfortable setting. The hotel offers a variety of amenities, including different types of tea, coffee, yukata, skincare products, and more, all available for self-service. On the second floor, there’s a meditation and yoga room, while the first floor houses the hot spring baths. The staff here are incredibly friendly; despite their limited English, they go out of their way to provide attentive service and assistance. The Japanese-style breakfast was a delightful surprise, featuring my favorite grilled fish and miso soup, along with fresh vegetable salad sourced from local farmers and a selection of fermented healthy condiments. Every bite reflected thoughtful preparation and the authentic flavors of the region.

Situated in Atami and only less than 1 km from Atami Sun Beach, 素泊まり宿 瑞宝荘 features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. the owner so was cute and kind! although there was a language barrier, we were able to communicate and she gave us tips of things to do and see in atami. she also gave us a wee bag of snacks on departure and walked us up the street to say goodbye. the property was very comfy and we had a lovely stay!

The ryokan is exactly what you want from an authentic Japanese ryokan experience. You are welcomed by the staff and provided a welcome drink. Then you get a tour of the property and your room. The property has all the needed facilities: public and private onsens, massage chairs, coffee/tea/water. The breakfast and diner are 10/10 quality and fresh, we were completely satisfied after. As for a day activity: panorama terrace going with a cable cart to the top of a mountain to view mount fuji: 10/10. Walking distance from the property. The town doesn’t provide much else to do. Room was cleaned daily and the futon beds are made for you.

Located in Higashiizu, 35 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Izu Hokkawa Seaside Guesthouse 伊豆北川の家 has a private beach area, private parking and rooms with free WiFi access. Host was really nice and explained everything about area. On our last day he drove us to train station so we wouldn’t struggle with our bags. Hill with train station is very steep and it would take us a lot of time and energy to do it without his help :) Thank you. Will definitely recommend to stay and we will come if we will be in the area.
