Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and a sofa. All rooms all soundproof and air-conditioned, and fitted with a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an attached bathroom. This is our first time in Japan and we landed straight for 4 nights in this great hotel. You get the full japanese experience when you land including traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinners, the dinners are amazing so take the half board. The rooms are big, beautiful and facilitated and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. It is located about 15 minutes by train outside of Kyoto but if you like to leave the crowds behind at night it's worth the commute.

The air-conditioned rooms come with Japanese Yukata robes, a fridge and a seating area with low tables and cushions. Guests can choose to stay in rooms with Western-style beds or in rooms with Japanese futon bedding and tatami (woven-straw) floors. Guests can watch international programmes on a flat-screen TV (BBC World, Phoenix InfoNews Channel, TVBS and YTN). The en suite bathroom comes with a hairdryer and slippers. Room very comfortable and spacious, only the bathroom which is quite squeezy. Dinner and breakfast is superb. The onsen is clean and staff are very friendly. I like the outdoor onsen, warm water with cool night weather, very relaxing after long walking in Osaka & Kyoto.

With a garden, the 1-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The ryokan features family rooms. The host of the guesthouse was very kind, and the extra dinner we ordered—Wagyu sukiyaki—was incredibly delicious. I would definitely visit again if I have the chance!

Each accommodation at the 3-star ryokan has lake views, and guests can enjoy access to a sauna and a hot spring bath. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Incredible ryokan experience! We loved the tranquil scenery which overlooked Lake Biwa. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional and traditional. We stayed two nights and the meals were never repeated. We loved the in room outdoor onsen overlooking the lake and the massage chair was a nice touch. A very relaxing stay. The staff was very friendly and really tried to speak English to us. We had no communication barriers. Will definitely return and highly recommend this ryokan. Very memorable experience.

Located in Hikone, near Hikone Castle, Kiyotaki Ryokan is a historic ryokan that features a garden. The property is non-smoking and is set 8 km from Taga-taisha Shrine.

The ryokan comes with a flat-screen TV. Providing free private parking, this 2-star ryokan also features free WiFi. The accommodation offers an air conditioning, a heating and a shared bathroom. I absolutely loved my stay at Hikone and Kiyotaki ryokan. The room I stayed in was spacious and smelled of tatami, the bath was newly and renovated and comfortable, there was a small table in room along with a kettle and a teapot set perfect for a cup of tea in the morning. This was both one of my favorite stays in Japan so far as well as one of the cheaper ones. The owner of this ryokan is super friendly well. He gave me tips on what to see as well as a map of local cafes and restaurants and other tourist attractions which he himself helped make. Overall the stay was super friendly and I hope to come back in the future and even book the dinner this time.
