The host does not speak English and I didn't speak much Japanese, but with a smartphone and a translation app we managed to communicate easily. I was allowed to leave my luggage even before the official time and to my surprise was allowed to check in immediately as the room was free. The private onsen has everything one might need and it can be used from 3pm to 10am. Perfect after a hike around the beautiful area.
