This hotel was a very nice surprise. Our room was exceptional - a very spacious, luxurious room with four different areas. The entry way to our room as well as the furnishings in the room were beautiful. It was a great place to relax. The view from our windows was magnificent! Our dinner was very delicious and filling. The breakfast was also very good. The hot sand bath - sunamushi sakaba - was a new, great experience for us. The onsen area is very large and clean, a nice place to soak after a long day. If you go, enjoy the bar located by the onsen - it's free to hotel guests and the bartender was very kind.

Tucked into the mist-veiled mountains just a short drive from Kagoshima Airport, this discreet riverside retreat feels like something out of a dream. As we ascended the winding road, a monsoon rain had transformed the landscape into a cinematic scene, verdant trees glistening, steam curling above the swollen river, and a hushed stillness that signaled we were somewhere special.
The welcome was as warm as the mineral-rich waters. The owner herself greeted us with genuine hospitality that felt deeply personal, ushering us into a room that opened to our own private onsen, a sanctuary of steam and silence. Yet it was the communal baths that truly stole the show: outdoor, gender-separated, and perched dramatically above the river, where bathing in the rain felt almost spiritual, as if the past ten days of travel were being washed away one drop at a time.
Dinner was a quiet triumph: a Taiwanese set menu that, while simple, was balanced and deeply satisfying, comfort food elevated by care and context.
In a final act of kindness, our host insisted on driving us to the airport the next morning, leaving us feeling both spoiled and a little foolish. Because if there’s one regret, it’s this: staying only one night.
Next time, we’ll linger. And you should too.

The house is great and clean, it has been through renovation. Yuki-san is an excellent host. Traditional tatami room and comfy futon. Bathroom with laundry and dryer, onsen coming straight from the sink for a soothing bath. I will come here again when I am around Kirishima
The owner of the Ryokan is a very nice man, very helpful and respectful. Room is very clean and quiet. Reasonable price and real hot spring bath.
Staying in this beautiful, comfortable, rustic riverside guest house was one of the most notable moments of my whole travels. The lady that runs it is the sweetest and kindest person I have ever met. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring Yakushima and the Jomonsugi hike. The rooms are comfortable and clean as those of any ryokan, and there are large onsen style baths free to use. You absolutely MUST stay here if you plan on staying anywhere on the island. Its worth every yen.
The location is good, the Japanese style room is very nice and we enjoyed the option for Japanese futon. Their futon were very comfortable. Onsen is clean and sauna available too as well as a cold pool. Outdoor onsen had 2 pools to choose from.
Traditional tatami Japanese style room, it’s clean and spacious, the onsen was superb
Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too. The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it. My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!
Spacious and warm home. Our host Shiro is really friendly & hospitable. We were welcomed with tea and homemade cheesecake. Every morning we woke up to freshly made breakfast with fresh produce from his garden. We love the private onsen best and to be able to sleep viewing the stars in the warmth of the tatami room. Location is a great base to explore Kirishima & Mt Karakuni, many waterfalls & relax with nature.
Very pleasant and hospitable people. The accomodation contains a lot of facilities (like a small onsen) and information and supplies for discovering the island. Had a very pleasant stay in a large Tatami mat room for 2 persons, would definitely recommend to come again!
Nice open-minded hostel flair. Comfortable futon on Tatami mats. Big common room and well-equipped common kitchen. Good location. Easy and well explained self check-in via laptop at the reception. Possibility to store luggage. We only stayed for one night so I can´t say much more.
Our stay here definitely exceeded expectations, with this ryokan rating as our best stay in Kyushu over the 10 days we visited. Staff were very helpful on check in and departure. Parking worked nicely. Dinner was outstanding and the staff who helped explain the kaiseki meal to us were fantastic. Our room had views looking out to sea, which was special. The onsen was nice too. All in all a great stay!
