Situated in Jozankei, 27 km from Sapporo Station, Jozankei Onsen Yurakusoan features accommodation with a spa and wellness centre, free private parking, an open-air bath and a shared lounge. Each accommodation at the 4-star ryokan has mountain views, and guests can enjoy access to a sauna and a hot spring bath. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, a lift and luggage storage for guests. Overall the stay was excellent starting with being greeted at the entrance and in the lobby by staff. This property is very clean with everyone leaving their outdoor shoes at lockers at the front and using socks provided by the Onsen. Our room was spacious with a sitting room and bath with a cypress hot tub. In the afternoons there were a number of teas available for tasting and in the evening there was ramen. The Onsen was wonderful with several different pools including cold plunges and saunas. There were 4 private baths that were generally available when we wanted to utilize them. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and provided multiple small bites that allowed guests to try many different flavours and textures of food. The staff were very friendly and helpful explaining some of the different foods.

The ryokan will provide guests with air-conditioned units with a wardrobe, a kettle, a fridge, a minibar, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a hot tub. Some units also have a well-fitted kitchenette equipped with a dishwasher, a microwave, and kitchenware. At the ryokan, units are fitted with bed linen and towels.

An Asian breakfast is available at the ryokan. There is a coffee shop, bar and lounge. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Possibly one of our best hotel stays ever. The hotel has a quiet beauty right out of a postcard, the staff are amazing and the food sublime. They did everything to make our stay perfect. The food is one of the best I ever had at a hotel, but western travellers should make sure to set expectations regarding the food which is very japanese, it was always interesting and perfectly executed but pushed us to our limits in some cases :)

Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. The ryokan also features free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. This is possibly my favourite hotel ever . The design the atmosphere , the location . From start to finish our 2 night stay was wonderful. The welcome ( we were met in the car park as we drove in , and helped with our bags ) offered a glass of fizz as we checked in . Our room was spacious , tatami floored and totally Japanese with a private onsen . Dinner and breakfast were served overlooking an exquisite garden and pond . There was also a separate Japanese Garden to enjoy . The meals were really interesting and beautiful cooked . It has an open kitchen which is spotless and calm. I didn’t want leave . 2 nights was not enough . Now we know it’s so convenient for Sapporo we will definitely return .

Set 28 km from Sapporo Station, Kuriya Suizan offers 5-star accommodation in Jozankei and features an open-air bath, a garden and a bar. This ryokan offers free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and a lift. This was the best onsen experience I've ever had. Room was amazing with a sauna and onsen actually in the room. However, it was the staff and the chef that made the stay the best ever! They took into consideration an allergy my son had to certain food type and went above and beyond to accommodate. They were all wonderful.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths and ocean views, Wakamatsu Hot Spring Resort is a 15-minute drive from JR Hakodate Station. Free parking is available on site. Delicately prepared Japanese meals are offered.

Featuring tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding, each room comes with a flat-screen TV and a fridge. The en suite bathroom has a bath tub and free toiletries. This was our absolute favorite hotel during our entire trip to Hokkaido! The hotel is incredibly beautiful, with aesthetic details everywhere you look. Everything was spotlessly clean, and all the staff were so kind and welcoming. You can even book a private hot spring, which was such a special experience! We chose the breakfast-included option, and it was absolutely amazing—so delicious and abundant. On top of that, the restaurant’s view was breathtakingly beautiful. Our room was simply perfect—we loved it so much! It was spacious, beautifully designed, and had a stunning view of the ocean right outside. We are already looking forward to coming back again in the future! Thank you so much to the Wakamatsu and all the wonderful staff for giving us such a memorable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
