The breakfast and dinner were great. The staff were amazing - very friendly and helpful. The no-booking system for the private onsens was easy to use. The location was also very convenient - close to Sainokawara Park and the shops.

The ryokan has family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. Tendon-san and his team were wonderful. So warm, friendly and fun. Our kids felt very welcome here and loved the whole experience. The cooking was amazing! So delicious. We could have stayed longer just to eat. Everything tasted incredible, especially the sukiyaki which was so soft and melted in your mouth. We all also loved the beautiful spacious room and outdoor bath. The rooms truly look like all the photos, if not better. And then there’s the temple. What a special place. No photo could really capture how Ryutakuzenji feels. You might just have to visit :)

The units in the ryokan are fitted with a kettle. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. All units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. Amazing experience (I stayed 3 nights). - amazing staff (in particular the lady in charge who speaks English and is very helpful (how to wear a yukata, how to bath in onsen, explaining local delicacy) - location: walking distance from everything but also a more charming place than traditional downtown kusatsu hotel (especially next to the park) - food ! Please book breakfast and at least try dinner once (very generous 12+ courses even if more pricey than regular plate but quality and quantity were insane) - large rooms with futon and beautiful view (only 10 rooms in this hotel), Onsen quiet and always on - yukata + kimono

Featuring an open-air bath, the 3-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Guests can use the public bath, or enjoy mountain views. The food was really good, the onsen was excellent and no complaints about the location!

Guests who check-in before 18:00 will receive complimentary welcome sweets. Every room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a TV. We liked everything! Such lovely hospitality! Fabulous breakfast! Really enjoyed the private Onsens! There are 4 that you can use anytime.

This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan features family rooms. The best onsen ever! Everything was a dream. I would gladly pay again for these experience. 100% will return. Everything was as described. We were the only foreigners there and we don't speak japanese but everyone made sure we were welcomed and that we understood everything.

Located along Houshi River, Houshi Onsen Chojukan features a public hot spring bath, Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and Japanese cuisine. A wooden building stemming from 100 years ago, the property breathes a historical atmosphere. The Houshi Onsen Chojukan is a magical place that offers scenic views and beautiful walking trails in the surrounding area. The staff members are incredibly lovely and truly elevated our stay there. The food was amazing, and we couldn't get enough of the onsens.
