Most of the workers here speak very nice English. They are all very friendly and helpful. The view from the room window is great. Private hot spring bath in room is just awesome. I love the details, like the tea incense burner in the room, interesting wooden toys in the public restroom, etc. (If you visit the Takumikan Craft Museum, you would know how to solve the wooden puzzle ^^). I enjoy my staying here a lot. It is a traditional Onsen hotel with modern equipments, but not too modern. And the town remains the traditional architectures, but with cozy atmosphere, and not too touristy.

We loved this traditional Japanese accommodation close to Takayama train station and all of Takayama's sightseeing spots. The traditional tatami room we had was spacious, clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. The onsen facilities were wonderful too. The staff were extremely gracious and polite.

This traditional ryokan comes with a nice in/outdoor onsen in a perfectly tranquil environment in the middle of the mountains, which is perfect to take a break from a busy few weeks traveling through Japan. Both breakfast and dinner were a treat, as was the service received throughout our stay. Great value for money as well.

Amazing experience in a traditional house (Ryokan) with great welcoming from the staff and great services (fireplace in the room, yakuta dressing/rental, matcha tea, etc) The breakfast is amazing with a lot of different local products and with Hida beef. You are full for the day after that ! The onsen in wood is very nice and clean. The traditional room is beautiful and very cosy !

Rustic ryokan in a beautiful setting, well worth the effort to travel out to. The staff were very friendly and speak good english, both the public and private onsens were clean and well maintained. We had a tasty meal of hida beef and the breakfasts were also very nice. We visited in summer but would love to return in winter as the scenery would be truly stunning!

This was truly a wonderful experience also thanks to the staff, everyone was so kind and helpful. The traditional breakfasts as well as dinners with hida beef, especially shabu-shabu was an unforgettable experience. All of the onsens were fantastic - in the room, public ones as well as the private outdoor ones. Very easy location for making a day trip into the spectacular Kamikochi national park.

Very warm hospitality and amazing service. We were helped with additional maps and recommendations. We were also helped with catching our bus. The outdoor and indoor onsen were lovely. Dinner was delicious. Fresh fish and other dishes. Beautifully cooked and presented. We loved the tatami rooms we stayed in. Highly recommended!

A beautiful ryokan with the most incredible private onsens in the rooms. We had the mountain view room, which meant we could open our window from the spring bath and look out over the temple and mountains. The staff were so kind, they made it a wonderful experience. Although in a relatively rural setting, the hotel is only a 5 min walk to the train station.
