How well integrated is with nature. The swimming pool is perfect to see animals passing by around 11/12. The proximity is perfect and convenient, the food is good and the staff is very kind and professional. The gym is amazing and super new. And the SPA is top-notch! The masseuse at the SPA were super good! I would encourage you book a massage because between the view and the professionalism of the people is super worth it! Plus if u book it at 11.30am, you have fil view of the elephant passing in front of you.

The location & style of the accommodation were perfect and so romantic. Nyarai and the staff were nice and gentle! Our stay was so great we wouldn’t leave and will come back for sure as soon as we can. The cuisine on offer at Moya is so delicate and sophisticated, with a chef and his assistant who take the time to explain everything and lead the way with brio! We enjoyed every moment of it. Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, where the Moya is, is really safe and you can see many animals 🤩 Thank you Nyarai and the team! You rock 🤩

The location is stunning. It offers really great views of the wildlife visiting the Crocodile River right from the breakfast veranda and even from the swimming pool. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with comfy beds and again offering some wonderful views of the surrounding nature. A special thanks to both Sindite and Noxolo for looking after us really well during our stay. Despite a period of 'load shedding' (power cuts) they managed to serve up a very tasty evening meal for us and then a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We only stayed one night this time before doing a 'self drive' in the Kruger. However, next time we will definitely stay for at least a few nights and drive into the Kruger from there.

Marius and Erik were the best guides. We learnt so much from them in the walking safari. The staff is lovely. The retreat is divine and has a lovely relaxing area both by the pool and in a veranda. It was a delightful experience! The property is exceptionally well-maintained, with brand new cottages that are not only beautifully designed but also spotlessly clean. Although we didn’t get a chance to use it, the pool looked very inviting (and clean). One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to a nearby national park, which allowed us to see some amazing wildlife right from the property. It was such a treat to watch the animals so close by. We also enjoyed the estate’s restaurant - breakfast was tasty and made with fresh ingredients. It is a fantastic place to stay, offering comfort, cleanliness, and a wonderful connection to nature. Highly recommended!

FAQs about hotels in Kruger National Park

Spectacular Stomping Ground of the Big Five

Covering almost 2 million hectares, Kruger is South Africa’s most important national park and is home to the Big Five: lion, African elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. In the country’s north-eastern corner, by the Swaziland and Mozambique borders, it also sees giraffe, zebra, hyena and crocodile (to name but a few) grace its watering holes and rivers.

Of the 8 South African gates to the park, Crocodile Bridge Gate is closest to Marloth Park and Komatipoort, both housing a good selection of game lodges and hotels near Kruger National Park. To the west, the farming town of Malelane has its own gate.

Kruger Mpumalanga Airport is the region’s main entry point and nearby Nelspruit has the greatest concentration of luxury Kruger Park hotels on Booking.com. The Numbi Gate is around an hour’s drive away, via the town of White River. Also near this gate is Hazyview, while Sabie to the west is peacefully located by a river fed by waterfalls.

A waterfall also plunges to the gorge floor in Graskop to the north, while Hoedspruit is closest to the wonderful Blyde River Canyon. Ha-Lambani has the northernmost Kruger Park accommodation and Phalaborwa to the south has a park gate. Further south are the Timbavati and Balule games reserves, while Skukuza is in the heart of the park, near the main gate.

The farm house was spacious, clean and well equipped, there is Wifi and a generator for load shedding which kicks in when the lights go out. There was plenty of hot water for everyone to shower and a lovely fireplace, which we utilised to keep us warm, it added to the winter atmosphere, sitting around a crackling fire with some hot chocolate. We ate all our meals at the restuarant, which was top quality, the food was delicious and Godphrey was so helpful and friendly. We were a big group of 10 and he had the patience to wait for every order. Breakfast was delicious as well, a wide variety to choose from. This is my second time there, we stayed 2 nights, but should have stayed longer, everyone enjoyed it there we didn't have enough time to do what we wanted. We did do the tobogaan, which was thoroghly enjoyable. There is something for everyone. The view from the restuarant is awesome. The staff were all really friendly and we had an enjoyable stay. Highly recommend this place..

If you are looking for a raw tour The Outpost is the perfect place to do so. Kayla was our guide for our stay and her knowledge on the area and wildlife was amazing. We were also fortunate enough to do a bush walk with a very experienced guide named Mark who share his knowledge on flora and birds in the area. Winnie was the staff member who organised our meals and drinks and her attention to detail was great!

Nelspruit is a well run city, s gateway for anyone passing through to Maputo-mozambique, Limpopo, the Kruger Park. The one bad thing about the place is lack of taxi services like Bolt or Uber locally. One has to do with the local minibus taxis which do not always service some areas and operate at set hours. There are some operators but charge speculative fares due to the absence of app based taxis. I'm told this is due to minibus taxi operators blocking their activities. An example is going to/fro the airport which is problematic, or going to Maputo. There are few options.

The unit was very spacious, well maintained and excellently fitted out. Close to the Kruger Park Restuarant food was simple and very tasty Beautiful Golf course very well maintained - even some game on show (impala). Monkeys were a bit of a pest the first day, then didn't bother us after that I would avoid the route via Sabi unless you want a very slow tedious drive!

Great central point for exploring the Kruger Park, private game reserves, Blyde River Canyon and many other spots in the region. Many lodges to choose from, tours, charters, restaurants, shopping centers in the town. Agricultural hotspot, with many mango and citrus farms, plus macadamia and avocado farms nearby.

There was an adquate number of restaurants.

There was an adquate number of restaurants. The shops were very sparing and contained basic goods. Security was good. The only downside was the additional time taken to get there because of extensive road works after Bombela (Nelspruit) and the inordinate volume of slow moving coal trucks going back and forth to Mozambique.

We use Malelane as our last stop into Kruger. Being 7 hours away not only is it a good resting stop after a long drive but also the opportunity to stock up on Supplies. There is everything you need at the Mall. Between Spar & now Woolworths you are able to stock up well. Nice and close to entrance to Kruger.

Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment.

Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment. The roads are in a very bad state and the general condition of the streets, pavements and rubbish lying around is a disgrace for the municipality. There are no streetlights working and the overall deterioration of the town is the last thing one wants to show overseas visitors. The tar road leading to the Kruger gate is obviously in a good condition but that is all. The Pick and Pay and the Spur are closed due to a fire incident and there are not a lot of restaurants to go to dinner for.

Waterval Self-Catering Holiday Home exceeded all our expectations! The house is beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free stay. From the cozy bedrooms to the fully stocked kitchen, every detail has been thoughtfully prepared. What makes this place truly special is its breathtaking natural setting. Surrounded by peaceful scenery, with the sound of flowing water and the sight of abundant birdlife, it felt like the perfect escape from the busy world. We enjoyed relaxing outdoors, having a braai, and soaking up the tranquility while still being close to shops and attractions when needed. The hosts were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home while giving us the privacy to enjoy the property at our own pace. It’s ideal for families, groups of friends, or couples looking for a romantic getaway. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and eager to return.
