Personnel and overall facilities incredible. One of the best food quality and variety I’ve ever experienced in an all inclusive hotel. Easy to book safaris and other options. Animals right in the near vicinity.

Marius and Erik were the best guides. We learnt so much from them in the walking safari. The staff is lovely. The retreat is divine and has a lovely relaxing area both by the pool and in a veranda. I'd highly recommend you stay here for one night before checking in at their private game reserve for more game drives.

FAQs about hotels in Kruger National Park

Spectacular Stomping Ground of the Big Five

Covering almost 2 million hectares, Kruger is South Africa’s most important national park and is home to the Big Five: lion, African elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. In the country’s north-eastern corner, by the Swaziland and Mozambique borders, it also sees giraffe, zebra, hyena and crocodile (to name but a few) grace its watering holes and rivers.

Of the 8 South African gates to the park, Crocodile Bridge Gate is closest to Marloth Park and Komatipoort, both housing a good selection of game lodges and hotels near Kruger National Park. To the west, the farming town of Malelane has its own gate.

Kruger Mpumalanga Airport is the region’s main entry point and nearby Nelspruit has the greatest concentration of luxury Kruger Park hotels on Booking.com. The Numbi Gate is around an hour’s drive away, via the town of White River. Also near this gate is Hazyview, while Sabie to the west is peacefully located by a river fed by waterfalls.

A waterfall also plunges to the gorge floor in Graskop to the north, while Hoedspruit is closest to the wonderful Blyde River Canyon. Ha-Lambani has the northernmost Kruger Park accommodation and Phalaborwa to the south has a park gate. Further south are the Timbavati and Balule games reserves, while Skukuza is in the heart of the park, near the main gate.

Nelspruit is a well run city, s gateway for anyone passing through to Maputo-mozambique, Limpopo, the Kruger Park. The one bad thing about the place is lack of taxi services like Bolt or Uber locally. One has to do with the local minibus taxis which do not always service some areas and operate at set hours. There are some operators but charge speculative fares due to the absence of app based taxis. I'm told this is due to minibus taxi operators blocking their activities. An example is going to/fro the airport which is problematic, or going to Maputo. There are few options.

The unit was very spacious, well maintained and excellently fitted out. Close to the Kruger Park Restuarant food was simple and very tasty Beautiful Golf course very well maintained - even some game on show (impala). Monkeys were a bit of a pest the first day, then didn't bother us after that I would avoid the route via Sabi unless you want a very slow tedious drive!

A great location for some rest and relaxation.

A great location for some rest and relaxation. I went on a Big 5 safari game drive, and got to see the animals up close. I also had a heavenly spa experience at Karuna, and visited the nearby reptile park to see some rare snake species. Lots of restaurants around to try out a variety of meals, I went to the Club House and had tasty ribs. Then the breakfast at Aragula is to die for.

Staying in Marloth Park was an unforgettable escape — exactly what a bush getaway should feel like. Animals roam freely through the park … zebras, giraffes, warthogs, kudu — giving you that genuine safari feel without needing to go far.

This was my first visit to the area and I found the natural beauty absolutely mind-blowingly magnificent. It is already a tourist hub and, as a South African, I truly hope the roads can be improved and poverty reduced so that it becomes an even more attractive place to visit.

Spacious and comfortable room and lovely pool and gym facilities. Immediate access the park so great for self-drives or guided tours. The breakfast buffet was excellent but the evening buffet was pretty average, however, there are other restaurant choices within walking distance.

Not too far from the N4.

Not too far from the N4. About an hours drive to most attractions, like the Kruger, Lone Creek Falls, Lisbon Falls and God's Window. Graskop Gorge is also on the way to Blyde River Canyon. The scenery while driving makes the drive worth it.

Malelane town itself is ok - good food shopping available. Its benefit is its proximity to Kruger National Park. Would recommend Hamiltons restaurant not far from the park gate and The Deck a bit further along Crocodile river with great views of the river.

Waterval Self-Catering Holiday Home exceeded all our expectations! The house is beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free stay. From the cozy bedrooms to the fully stocked kitchen, every detail has been thoughtfully prepared. What makes this place truly special is its breathtaking natural setting. Surrounded by peaceful scenery, with the sound of flowing water and the sight of abundant birdlife, it felt like the perfect escape from the busy world. We enjoyed relaxing outdoors, having a braai, and soaking up the tranquility while still being close to shops and attractions when needed. The hosts were welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home while giving us the privacy to enjoy the property at our own pace. It’s ideal for families, groups of friends, or couples looking for a romantic getaway. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and eager to return. If you’re looking for a hidden gem that combines comfort, beauty, and warm hospitality, Waterval Self-Catering Holiday Home is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment.

Phalaborwa as a town was a deep disappointment. The roads are in a very bad state and the general condition of the streets, pavements and rubbish lying around is a disgrace for the municipality. There are no streetlights working and the overall deterioration of the town is the last thing one wants to show overseas visitors. The tar road leading to the Kruger gate is obviously in a good condition but that is all. The Pick and Pay and the Spur are closed due to a fire incident and there are not a lot of restaurants to go to dinner for.
