We were warmly welcomed and spent a very comfortable overnight stop. Milk fresh from the cows was in our fridge. The family were very helpful. We would recommend this guest house.

Walking out amongst the zebra, eland, ostriches and bontebok with no restrictions is awesome and great sightings of several baboon troops, mongoose, giant tortoise and small buck and the Vulture Sighting trip is awesome. The food was excellent and we picked up some great meat on-route to braai on one evening and the braai is excellent and not a bad idea to collect up dead wood and turn it into a fire pit afterwards. Getting up early for the 25 min (have to go slow for animals that bolt across road) drive to beach parking at Koppie Alleen where there is small beach cafe/restaurant for sun up (7.10am) when we were there is perfect as is deserted. We aimed for an hour before low tide to walk turning left from the cafe on Day 1 as with tide out all rock pools are easily accessible with beautiful star fish, anemones, sea life in them so we walked the low tide line then came back via the cliff beach trail all before the sun was at heat so getting bak to Bites Cafe for about 11am for an early lunch. The next day we went to Bites and turned right again low tide and walked over the Dunes higher up the beach for a great bit of exercise for an hour and then back along the low tide line for a different walk back to Bites cafe. Three nights was the perfect length of stay.

Luxury houses are located in a very picturesque location. You feel like you're in some other historical reality! All design elements are thought out to the smallest detail. We really liked it. It's a pity that we only spent one night here. We would like to come back here again!

It is worth your while to visit De Hoop.
It is worth your while to visit De Hoop. We saw a lot of animals but unfortunately no whales due to the wind. The beach is amazing as is the restaurant by the beach. The long dirt road is a bit of a challenge.

The indoor market is a must visit.
The indoor market is a must visit. The only general dealer in Witsand has a wide variety of products in stock at only a little bit more expensive than the big supermarkets. We felt very safe during our stay and the ladies and children could walk everywhere without feeling unsafe. Remember to check on the restaurant specials at the beach and don't forget the excellent roosterkoek at the indoor market.

Ample space.
The Double Bunks make up for more space for more people which is great.
The cupboards was dirty
And the fridge had a smell
All in all very nice stay.
The Bees came out the Sunday but scary though just glad it was after we had a blast there.

It was beautiful but rugged and not everything is easily accessible. I would go there in a heart beat for a fishing trip, but I think there are better places to go to the beach for parents with small children.

The reserve is not a big 5 animal park but has an amazing biodiversity of flora and birds. It has an inland lagoon, a large white dune field and a beautiful coastline where you can spot whales in the right season. It also has the only remaining Cape Vulture colony in the Western Cape.
To access the park, you need to travel on long stretches of gravel road, so is a bit off the beaten track. You need to pay a conservation fee at the entrance (check Cape Nature for rates). It hosts the multiday slack-packing hike of the Whale Trail. However, it also has lovely day walks and bike rides, where you can get up quite close to the animals.

Witsand is a quiet town and the people friendly. The waiter at the restaurant in town was a bit sulky. Not very friendly. You sit down, you order, you eat, you pay, you go. But the food was perfect.
