Coco Villa is a really amazing new hotel, with wonderful facilities super spacious rooms, located slightly outside the touristy area, a nice more remote location with surrounding traditional villages (it is very easy to get everywhere), but it was a bonus to see less tourists. A great touch was the free bicycles available on the premises, which made it a no-brainer to get around Ninh Binh. Everyone tries so hard, special thanks to the kindest and most attentive staff: Duc, Cuong, Luc, Ninh, hanah, Thai :) We found that the mini golf course was an awesome use of the space. Overall 11/10

The breakfast buffet was quite widespread with western options. The view from the room was amazing. The location was quite in the centre and easily accessible. The receptionists Anna and Nhung were exceptionally friendly. Anna contacted me beforehand and gave me instructions as we were checking in at midnight. Nhung was so kind to pack our breakfast as we were leaving before 7am. Exceeded my expectations. Super happy with the stay in this hotel with my family.

Everything was perfect. The owner is so nice and caring. The bamboo bungalow was very comfortable. The little pool was so pleasant and the setting really gorgeous with the views on the mountains. The meals at the restaurant were delicious. I will recommend this place to everyone I know.

For me a 10 plus!! Arrived early and they gave me a sort of breakfast and could enter early in my room!! Tony, the owner is the best!! Great and friendly staff, every time you come back im the hotel they offer you a cold drink!! It was so hot when i was there!!The place is amazing, sort of honeymoon resort ;-) Great breakfast, nice pool, great view from there and a big, clean and comfortable room, very quiet (Tam Coc downtown can be very noisy)I LOVED MY STAY OVER THERE!! Thank you "Tony"!!!

The Trang An Aroma Ecolodge is a really beautiful place to relax. The staff is very friendly and supportive. For breakfast we could always choose between two different dishes like egg and bread or pancakes. Coffee or tea was served also for breakfast. The view over the rice fields is magnificent and during night one can see the Pagodas on the mountain tops near the Mua Cave.

The location is just stunning, including the surrounding area. If you stay here you could just as well skip tam coc, as it is equally beautiful, but without the crowds. The rooms are basic, but clean. You get an AC and a mosquito net. The hotel itself is not the most comfortable overall, but if you are only here for a few nights it is worth it. The kitchen only serves Vietnamese food. The food itself is decent, and we enjoyed our meals there. If you prefer Western food or breakfast, you might want to look elsewhere. The coffee was actually better then we got in some high end place. The pool is lovely, but could do with a bit more shade for a dive after lunch. It is a homestay run by a Vietnamese Family. They have 2 small kids, so the location is very kid's friendly. Overall this place is a great value for money, especially because you can enjoy the Ninh Binh's scenery until the sun goes down.

This was a lovely, quiet place to stay in the countryside. My room was absolutely lavish, and well worth the price! A gift of strong rice wine was a nice surprise. The staff were excellent and helped me decide what to do during my stay. I enjoyed biking around the nearby countryside; it was absolutely gorgeous. If you are a birder, the area is really nice. The marsh across the road was brimming with yellow and cinnamon bitterns, waterhens, coucals, rails, kingfishers, prinias, fantails, herons, egrets, and so many other good things! You can try fishing just down the road, and there is a short walk or bike ride to an excellent boat tour through some caves for a very reasonable price. I wish I could have stayed longer! Special thanks to Tau (I hope I spelled your name correctly). This lovely lady was so nice, friendly, and helpful to me! The whole staff was amazing. Would love to visit again someday.

It’s a super special and amazing place. Bungalows are simple and rustic, but cozy and comfortable and the best thing is the surrounding; pure peace, nature, river, mountains and the best host. They were super nice, arranging the transport for me, early check in and late check out, booking the bus, giving me advice what to see and for Christmas Eve they organised a joint dinner. You a rent a motorbike there as well. The location is magnificent, so if you don’t mind a mosquito or two and you want to be in a nature, while being comfortable, this is a place to go.

I had a great time, the place is beautiful and green mountains all around. The staff is very friendly and helpful they have bikes mountain bikes and if dont need any of that they can book you grab taxi they have their own taxi driver you can even show grab app and they will book him for cheaper than grab. Amazing the food if it's breakfast or lunch all great.

Ninh Binh – Vietnam’s Hidden Gem

Ninh Binh – Vietnam’s Hidden Gem Ninh Binh absolutely blew me away. It feels like a quieter, more peaceful version of Ha Long Bay but on land — stunning limestone mountains, rice fields, and winding rivers everywhere. I took a boat ride in Tam Coc, and it was incredibly scenic and calm, passing through caves and local villages. The people were welcoming, and the food was delicious and cheap. It’s the perfect spot to relax, explore nature, and escape the city rush. Easily one of my favorite places in Vietnam!

As far as I can make out, this town is a suburb/area of Ninh Binh, less than a mile from the train station. It is probably the friendliest place I've ever been - I think I was "helloed" by just about everyone under 10 I saw. But the highlights are really in the surrounding countryside, so I would recommend planning for a few days out to see the nature reserves and participate in the activities. You don't need to travel far, and can get Grab taxis or bikes if you don't have your own transport.

I had a wonderful experience at Lighthouse Hotel in Ninh Binh. The hotel is located in a convenient location, near markets and attractions, making transportation easy. Rooms are clean, comfortable and fully equipped with amenities. In particular, the receptionist is very friendly and enthusiastic, always ready to assist customers. The hotel also provides a private cooking area and dining table for guests, creating a feeling of home. The yard is spacious and airy, providing a relaxing space after days of exploration. I will definitely return to Lighthouse Hotel on my next trips to Ninh Binh.

We spent two days in Ninh Binh and could have easily spent a day or two longer. It's a very laid back area and there is lots to see. We stayed between Trang An and Tam Coc and used bicycles to get around. The quieter location suited us but for younger travellers Tam Coc is more vibrant. The walk to the top of Hang Mua viewpoint is best done in the early morning (we went before breakfast) so it isn't too crowded and not too hot. There were mountain goats roaming around when we walked up (around 7.00am) but they'd gone by the time we descended and more people were arriving. We didn't take the boat ride in Tam Coc but we took a boat ride in Trang An. The scenery seems more mountainous around Trang An than Tam Coc. On the day we went the water was high so we couldn't go into the caves and there was only one route open, which seemed to be a mix of the other routes. The boat trip lasted around 2.5 hours and was excellent. We also visited the old town at night, which was nice. It's all lit up and there are some good places to eat on the waterfront. Bich Dong temple is also worth visiting. There is a staircase leading up to a smaller shrine and to the left of that there is a passage through a bat cave and up to another small shrine outdoors.
