Downtown area has cleaned up a lot, compared to few years ago. Much more people at night. Even Union Square felt very safe (and clean) unlike few years back. Make sure you won't have a long wait for the shuttle. I needed a break after a long flight. If I had not gone into San Francisco and stayed the night, returning home the next day. Napa is absolutely beautiful no matter where you drive. The weather was warm but still very comfortable. Downtown Napa is a great spot to eat, walk around, and shop, with a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone we met was friendly, and the wineries are fantastic! I got a chance to spend time with my youngest son. I'm gluten free and we were able to find a wonderful hole in the wall cafe called Aburaya, 362 17th street in downtown Oakland. They have the best Gluten free fried chicken I have ever tasted. Unfortunately the streets in downtown Oakland have litter eveywhere. I liked the view and my room was clean. The bed was comfortable. There was no mirror in the bathroom for putting on make up. But everything was really fine except for the breakfast experience which was awful. I woke up early and wanted to go sit and quietly write out on the deck and have my breakfast in the open air. But there was terrible loud music way too loud too much like disco for 8 AM. And nobody could turn it down and nobody could change it.
