- From US$137.10 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,719 reviewsWe come here quite often from the Central Valley in California. I love how this hotel is so close by the ocean. You can walk to it. I really like the way the rooms doors all face the inside of the building so that you do not have doors slamming or lights in your window from cars pulling up. We always stay on the 2-3 floor and appreciate the complimentary breakfast. Simple but enough for us. We like how the rooms are spacious, Especially the King bed units. And the fact that they have a microwave and fridge is so helpful as we don’t eat out a lot. They’ve just completed a new breakfast room area and it is nice. The pool and especially the spa are bonuses. And I like how both are in a protected area. I love that it is so close to the Monarch Butterfly Reserve and we always see deer…always… between the hotel and the seaGuest review byClaireUnited States
- From US$601.75 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 287 reviewsSanctuary Beach Resort was and absolute highlight of our trip! The location is stunning, right on the beach with breathtaking ocean views and direct access to the sand. Our bungalow-style room was beautifully designed, spacious, and had a private balcony where we could relax and watch the waves. The resort’s peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to unwind. We loved the fire pits in the evening, creating a cozy and romantic setting. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. If you’re looking for a serene and luxurious escape along the California coast, Sanctuary Beach Resort is a must-visit!Guest review byClo BoucheritFrance

- From US$196.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 1,430 reviewsWe loved Monterey! The place itself is nice, private parking, good space room, comfy beds. The biggest advantage - location. About 20 min to the Aquarium and 20 min to restaurants the other way. The amazing thing is that you walk to restaurant and see sea lions just chilling on the rocks..Guest review byKarolisMikalauskasLithuania

The Monterey Bay aquarium was top notch, not only with animals, but facilities and numerous volunteers. The area is beautiful and weather was fabulous. We had the absolute best clam chowder, so fresh. Plus we could watch the otters, seals and dolphins in the kelp beds from the window as we ate.Guest review byTerriUnited States - 8.0

Very beautiful and quaint but painfully overpriced as a whole. You can’t get a scoop of ice cream for less than $10. Only go if money is not an object at all. Expect to spend $50+/person for every meal.Guest review byPranavUnited States - 8.0

We enjoyed this location as it was easy to access Monterey and all the areas we wanted to visit. Rosine's in Monterey is Tops to us! Transiting the area was very easy. No bad traffic. Everything flowed well.Guest review byTirasmomUnited States - 10.0
The Steinbeck Center is a must.
The Steinbeck Center is a must. I had breakfast at a local coffee shop on Main street, a few blocks away from the Steinbeck center. I can't remember the name, but the food was good and affordable. The staff was great. Seems like a draw for the locals.Guest review byMargaretUnited States - 10.0
Marina is a beautiful little town just north of Monterey.
Marina is a beautiful little town just north of Monterey. With CSUMB right there, there are a number of stores and restaurants typical of a college town. Monterey is just a short drive away but Marina is quiet without the hustle and crowds. Daddy's City Diner is a great place to start your day with a hearty breakfast! Stop by Baker's Bacon for some fresh, tasty bacon, sausage and cheese. Take some candied bacon with you for a wonderful snack.Guest review byJasonUnited States - 8.0
Everything you need for a Roadside Hotel.
Everything you need for a Roadside Hotel. Outside and property was well maintained, clean and landscaped. Room was well appointed and for the most part really clean. I very much appreciate a laminate floor vs. carpet that you know is never clean. Had a a nice sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine. Area has grocery stores and restaurants in the area that you can walk to. (Just avoid the Mexican place across the street, unless you want some stomach upset! Trust me you'll thank me!) Again, was everything you needed and will book again for my Concours stay next year! Thank you!Guest review byKathrynUnited States - 10.0
Don't miss Big Sur! A truly beautiful spot.
Don't miss Big Sur! A truly beautiful spot. A highlight for us was the hike around Lobos Point where the wildlife is abundant and the scenery breathtaking. Eating out was pricey but we stayed at Big Sur campground and cabins where we able to cater for ourselves. During April the roads were reasonably quiet, making the drive along the coast super easy.Guest review byHannahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Friendly , helpful staff.
Friendly , helpful staff. Exceptionally clean rooms...floors had been wet mopped ( a pet pieve of mine) and all was well maintained. The housekeeping service even stopped to ask if everything was ok.Guest review bySusanUnited States - 10.0
Carmel Valley is a little gem.
Carmel Valley is a little gem. Most people visiting Northern CA only get as far as Napa or Santa Cruz but they're really missing out. The wineries and restaurants in Carmel Valley rival Napa. Point Lobos on the way to Big Sur is a spectacular park hugging the cliffs. Nepenthe in Big Sur is not only historic but has a fantastic view of the coast. And of course there is Esalen in Big Sur. Make the effort and visit.Guest review byKathrynUnited States - 6.0
