Although the street art was nice, we very much disliked the fact that all through traffic, including 18-wheelers, speeds through town on Main Street - not an enjoyable or pleasant place to stay or walk, and it doesn't seem particularly clean. This negatively impacts the the attractiveness of all downtown businesses, especially the sidewalk cafes. However, it's all worth it for a visit to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Don't miss it! And Emma's Cafe (Mexican), though small and out of the downtown core, is definitely worth a visit.Guest review byMyronUnited States - 10.0
A very homey town, charming and quiet.
A very homey town, charming and quiet. There are several nature reserves nearby for migrating sandhill cranes and other birds, and a Crane Festival if one comes at the right time. I went to the Great Sands Dunes National Park, which is beautiful and novel. I ate with relatives, but there are nice restaurants nearby for dining, and my locals enjoy their menus. The hotel sits at a crossroads for easy access to any direction, and mountain access is all around, which includes skiing, hiking, rockhounding in old mines, and scenic drives.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 8.0

Very small town, good place to stay for exploring the national park but somewhat limited resources in the town. No major grocer but convince stores and 1 main restaurant that serves average american/mexican/italian options but above average fudge. Quiet town with. beautiful backdrop.Guest review byHANNAHUnited States - 10.0

This was a family trip with our high school and collage age single grandchildren to view the Sandhill Crane migration stopover at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge. We were very pleased with both the dusk and dawn Crane viewing. Alamosa has a nice restaurant selection. We enjoyed delicious meals at The Purple Pig and Oscar’s Mexican Food. Both had a nice atmosphere along with friendly excellent service.Guest review byCarolineTTUnited States - 10.0

We only stayed for one night but I liked that the room we stayed in, didn't have any odors, like cigarette smells, or humidity smells. The room was very clean. But the thing I liked the most was that Monte Vista Movie Manor, is away from major streets, so noise was not an issue there during the night. The ladies in charge were very friendly and respectful. The morning we checked out, we showed up to the dinning area very close to closing time, but the lady in the front office (and I don't remember her name, I am sorry) was very kind to let us have breakfast, even offer to cook more eggs for us! She didn't rush us out at any moment, so we were able to eat our breakfast well past the closing time, so I thank her for this kind gesture.Guest review byPatriciaUnited States - 8.0

we went to go see a car show, but due to weather conditions, it didn't happen, but the drive and just getting out of the house was more than worth it for sure. We just enjoyed the peacefulness of the area.Guest review byJanet - 8.0

Came for the Crane Festival but weather kept the cranes away. Enjoyed the artisan market and touring the surrounding area. Also made a trip to the Great Sand Dunes NP. The people in town and at the hotel were nice and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the small town feel. It was a good choice other than Alamosa just down the road. I enjoyed my stay.Guest review byAnonymous
