Max the owner is true gem in hospitality, he really loves hosting and giving you the true Zanzibar experience, the staff is also nice & if you looking to be treated as if you are home Babalao is the place. Theres also great Resturants that Max recommended and we tried them...our favourite was Barack and the "fresh from the sea" seafood barbaque on the beach is an amazing experience. Theres tons of activities at your doorstep and you spoiled for choice and come back to your home fully welcomed and its peaceful like a small "big" family. Thanks Max and your lovely wife for giving us the true Zanzibar holiday experience.

They personalized so many details for us, including a beautiful floating breakfast to celebrate our honeymoon. We stayed in a villa with a private pool, which was absolutely stunning — and yet we still found ourselves admiring the gorgeous common pool area too.
When we arrived after a long safari tour, I wasn’t feeling well, and the team immediately made me a fresh ginger tea. They even arranged a dinner takeout and brought it to our room so I could rest — it’s these thoughtful gestures that really stood out to us.
The entire facility is peaceful, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. Our villa and pool were cleaned daily, and it was such a joy to come back to a fresh, welcoming space every day. Mounir and the whole team were so warm and attentive — they truly made sure we were looked after from start to finish.
The location is great too — close to the beach and nightlife, yet tucked away enough for some serenity. We’re so happy we chose KAI for the final part of our honeymoon and we’d absolutely come back again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a boutique luxury experience with exceptional, personalised service! Thanks again for this memorable stay 💗

From the slightly off the beaten path location, with is own breathtaking sand bank beach, the views are spectacular from day to night. The rooms which are all separate oceanfront villas, are large, well decorated and modern. The individual pool allowed us to have complete privacy and still experience the beautiful outdoors.
All the staff, including the chef, are extremely friendly, welcoming and professional. They made my husband and I feel so comfortable and truly went over and beyond to make our stay exceptional.

CanadaI had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The property is located right on a beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear turquoise waters, making it the perfect spot to relax. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, offering a good variety of options like meats, fresh fruits, and eggs made to order—though it’s not a buffet.
The room was spacious and exceeded my expectations, and the bathroom was equally roomy. The water pressure was great, and I had a lovely sea view from the balcony. Internet was fast and reliable throughout my stay, which made working remotely a breeze. Plus, the hotel has a generator, so there were no issues with power outages.
During the day, I enjoyed working in a quiet, shaded area of the hotel, and in the evenings, I dined on fresh seafood with wine right on the patio by the sea—such a special experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing a detailed note with local price tips to avoid being overcharged, and sharing some great information about the island.
Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing, stress-free stay with good service and a beautiful setting!

PortugalI had an amazing stay at this hotel! The room decoration and the sea view were simply stunning, making it a truly special experience. The common areas, especially the dining space, were beautifully decorated and had such a relaxing atmosphere, also overlooking the ocean.
The service was outstanding — the staff were always attentive and willing to help with any needs I had, which made everything so much easier and more enjoyable.
The location couldn’t be better: just 100m from a diving center, 200m from the local village, and right by the sea. It was the perfect balance between comfort, convenience, and natural beauty.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing yet unforgettable stay by the ocean.

Everything in this hotel is designed to make you feel good and enjoy an idyllic setting. The staff is very attentive, welcoming, friendly and very attentive.
As soon as you arrive and receive the welcome foot massage, you are plunged into this atmosphere of calm and serenity. To be able to experience spending your entire stay barefoot in the sand is an experience I had never experienced. It feels so good to give up shoes and to refocus on yourself.
The rooms are clean, well appointed and add to the feeling of well-being. Even though we were surrounded by nature, we were never bothered by mosquitoes or other insects.
The restaurant offers a varied menu for each meal offering various foods (vegetarian, fish, meat, poultry, shellfish). There is a starter, main course and dessert system. Everyone can figure it out. The fact that there are only 20 rooms means that the time of the meal is a calm and intimate moment. The à la carte service (for lunch, lunch and dinner) is of a high quality and professionally offered.
The hotel's beach is just a beautiful picture postcard ride away with its white sand and sky blue sea. The beach furniture available is just top quality so you can relax and take your best photos. There are 2 deckchairs, a covered beach bed, but also the possibility that the staff will set up a space on the beach. As far as the swimming pool is concerned, it is very beautiful and there is always room, without going to war as is often the case elsewhere.
All this to say, I couldn’t have chosen a better framework for my marriage proposal

A unique TUI BLUE experience
TUI BLUE Zanzibar is a slice of paradise! The stunning views and relaxed vibe greet you, setting the stage for an unforgettable and long week getaway (with a little bit of work 😊). The resort is absolutely lush, well kept, and beautiful with picturesque photo opportunities all around, especially at the beach. Our room was amazing, very cleaned, spacious and comfortable with a stunning ocean view and totally faultless.
The staff are incredibly friendly, always ready with a smile. Their warm hospitality enhances the experience. The seafood at Breeze restaurant is a highlight, fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The international buffet dinner around the pool and the Swahili night at the beach with a Massai performance are a must to attend. A special shout-out to the Executive Chef Ali and his team for creating such memorable meals, during our entire stay. The resort offers multiple restaurants to enjoy with different thematic (Italian, Seafood, BBQ and Asian).
We want to acknowledge a few super stars who made our stay extra enjoyable. Thank you to Clara, our adorable waitress who always took care of us with a smile and colorful eyeshadow 😊. She is so nice and felt like family by the time we left. Thank you to Hassan the fantastic Food and Beverage manager who made sure that we were very well looked after. He got his department fully under control and was present morning to night to be sure his guests are well taken care of. Finally, I want to personally thank the General Manager Mr. Javier and his management team. If the guest experience feels so enjoyable is also due to his leader who in the shadow of the actions makes sure the property is well run. Bravo!

From the first moment we entered Zuri it was perfect. This hotel guarantees perfect relaxation and high quality service from A to Z. We were really charmed by the place. Whether it was the spacious and stylish rooms, the highly professional staff, the high class gastronomy to the point of I would say fine dining cuisine or the private beach right by the Indian Ocean or the swimming pool where one could perfectly relax at any time of the day.
There is really nothing in Zuri that is not an experience. If one has the opportunity to come to this hotel one should definitely do it because you will not find a better hotel in Zanzibar, and I dare say not even far and wide.

We loved our stay at Sevi. The room with an ocean view was stunning. The staff was so attentive to us (a special thank you to Aisha at the restaurant for her kindness!). We could feel that this place was built with a lot of care and love! Bravo!

The vibes are great — everything you need is nearby, including shops, restaurants, and tour offices.
Restaurants on the beach tend to be a bit pricey, but if you take a short walk into the side streets, you’ll find places offering the same quality food at much more reasonable prices.
What I didn’t like were the beach boys — they’re nice and friendly, but can be a bit annoying as they keep trying to sell things. They’re not too pushy, but it’s hard to relax when someone approaches you every couple of minutes. The only time you can truly enjoy some peace is early in the morning.
Important note : you have to strongly negotiate the prices and people are very nice and easy going
Try to learn few words from their language they will be super happy :)

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.
Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it.
We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip.
Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough.
The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Kendwa beach was definitely the best beach compared to Nungwi, especially the south part. Even in low tide it was easy to take a swim. Also the beach here is wider and feel less crowded. As on the complete stretch there were many people trying to sell you stuff but on the south part not so many ”permanent” sales people other than the ones having sheds. The Maasai roaming around are friendly but just say no with a smile and most will not be persistent in their effort to sell you something..

Generally, a lovely and intimate establishment with staff that care for your personal needs. The manager is so friendly and always wants to know how the guests are doing. The most beautiful sunrises. The performances add to the spice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Many restaurants and beach bars , next to Badolina Bungalows . Good prices and good food at Baraka restaurant and Nanasi restaurant. And , also , at Zava restaurant.
For excursions I recommend Yussufu , very nice guy and good prices .

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 .
We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe.
There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner.
Not too far from stone town.

If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean...
If you are looking for white sand beach with the best ocean waters and minimal tides, Kendwa is the best place in Zanzibar. The beach is the most spacious and greatest on the island and the village provides all the necessities you would need. With many tours and water activities offered on the beach you would hardly need to move anywhere else. It is also a walkable distance to Nungwi during low tide if anyone is interested in a more bustily environment.

The nearby beaches are scenic, but there are some important things to consider. The ocean is full of sea urchins, making swimming risky without proper footwear. During the day, low tide pulls the water far from the shore, so swimming may not always be possible. If you walk toward the reef, expect to be approached frequently by local beach vendors, which can feel intrusive — especially when you're clearly not carrying money. Local security presence is minimal, so don't expect much intervention in these situations. It's best to come prepared and manage your expectations if you're looking for a peaceful swim.

Truly enjoyed the pristine beach and the laid back nature of the place. Totally enjoyed several meals at Fish Restaurant which were absolutely delicious. I tried Kingfish, Changu, Perch, White Snapper, Prawns etc. The seafood was phenomenal. We also enjoyed seeing the turtles and the artwork at several curio shops. Also enjoyed an early morning boat ride seeing the dolphins. I can't believe how fast time went by. Looking forward to visiting Zanzibar again.

The snorkeling was a true adventure, with well-protected marine life and crystal-clear water. Spotting the dolphins was an unexpected bonus! Visiting the sea turtle rehabilitation center and feeding them was a special experience.
