- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 36 reviewsAbsolutely perfect! The house is so beautiful and comfortable! The front of the house is all in glass, with a breathtaking panoramic view! I's so cosy and all the details made us felt so welcomed. Every bedroom had its own bath, the beds were super comfortable. You have stunning views from every room. There was a lot of space. Outside, the house has an amazing private terrace, so comfortable to relax and enjoy the view! The sense of peace we feel there is unique. Irene is an excellent hostess and made us feel so welcome! We loved everything and we want to come back!Guest review byTeresaPortugal
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 130 reviewsThe property exceeded the expectations. It is a house full of stories to tell. The owner José Andrade is very friendly and available to help with suggestions and knowledge about the region. The breakfast was good. The swimming pool was available, unfortunately the weather did not help in November. From our room we had line of sight to Marvão, marvelous to see the morning and the night of this city from our window. It is possible to visit the farm with the guidance of the owner. A place to return in the future.Guest review byJoãoPortugal
- From US$146.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 915 reviewsRustic traditional. This is a traditional Quinta. Don’t expect multiple staff catering to your every need or room service at 11 at nigh. It’s a small but wonderful place with great amenities in a rural setting. I had my morning walk with the hotels dog to accompany me so instant 10/10. BTW he stayed for breakfast and enjoyed multiple tummy rubs.Guest review byBrendanUnited Kingdom

The pool was refreshing and the area nice and warm in the afternoon sun. Breakfast self-service had many choices hot and cold, including variety of coffees from the machine. The location was great, plenty of parking, an easy walk to the main square and castle.Guest review byPeteCanada
- From US$129 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 206 reviewsThe hotel and grounds are really cute! It is family friendly, our room was really nice, everyone (staff) was super helpful and nice to us and the kids. I don’t think there are many rooms and because all guests have different routines, a lot of the time it felt like we had the place to ourselves, including the pool!Guest review byMargaridaDenmark

Marvão is a small village high on a mountain, with a view that's enough to make you climb. It's a shame there aren't more entertainment, restaurants, and bakeries that would allow you to spend more time in the village. The castle is worth a visit.Guest review byOrlandoJRPortugal - 6.0

Not much in the town itself except for the unique tapestry museum - a must see. And an outstanding restaurant on the far southern (?) edge of town. There are easy excursions to two nearby castle towns well worth seeing.Guest review byTimothyUnited States - 10.0

Castelo de Vide is a charming and peaceful hilltop town full of history and character. With its medieval castle, cobbled streets, and beautifully preserved Jewish quarter, it feels like stepping back in time. The views over the Alentejo hills are breathtaking, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. It’s the perfect destination for a quiet getaway, surrounded by nature, culture, and authentic Portuguese charm. Ideal for slow travel and those looking to unwind in a truly special place.Guest review byLuisMGLDSpain - 10.0

Marvao was very picturesque, our vacation rental was the prettiest little property with lost of outdoor sitting areas, a small brook with rushing water and greenery all around, The birds, especially the nightingales were plenty and singing, and the sparrows were building their nests everywhere.Guest review byElzingaNetherlands - 10.0

It's worth the drive from Lisbon, though I must admit it is quite a long drive. But the place is a surprise, a hidden gem, that needs to be experienced. A 2-night stay in this charming medieval village is the minimum. As a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, I do not mind staying here for a week!Guest review byiWillTravelMorePortugal - 10.0

Portalegre is a Perfect Place because it’s in such a great zone. You can visit so many other city’s and towns from there. Especially Marvão and Castelo de Vide. And you have everything you need in portalegre. Also they have great restaurants with typical Food of Alentejo!Guest review byA. - 10.0

Castelo de Vide is a charming ancient town with plenty to do and see, both in the town and in the surrounding countryside. The town itself is quite lively, with great cafes and restaurants offering local specialty dishes. The narrow cobbled streets run up to the castle at the top of the hill, where there is a walled medieval village. The views from here are stunning! The Jewish quarter is interesting, and the little museum at the synagogue is free to visit from Tuesdays - Sundays (closed on Mondays). The countryside around Castelo de Vide teems with ancient megalithic sites including antas, dolmens and menhirs. Nearby the menhir of Meada is one of the (if not the) oldest and tallest in the world and is well worth a visit.Guest review byHelenPortugal - 10.0

We were here for a residency interview with SEF, the immigration agency. We didn't stay long enough to have a big opinion, but the place we stayed was nice, and we had a great vegan meal at Hokkaido, a restaurant in town. We parked right by the castle. The churches were beautiful too.Guest review bySaraPortugal - 8.0

We had low clouds and rain both days at Castelo, so we could not do what was planned: to walk in the national park. After seeing the nice ladies in the tourism office we tried the church and its exhibition - good enough for a rainy day. We walked to the castle and the fort and enjoyed the view the first day, there were low-hanging clouds resulting in dense fog on the second day. A few shops amused the ladies while walking around in the rain. There are several restaurants, pubs, etc. in the center. Because of the weather, we opted for a taxi tour to Marvao (less than 20EUR one way) but the town was in very dense fog. We ate at a tapas bar the first evening and in Marvao the second evening. We suspect the tapas bar food gave three of us food poisoning.Guest review byRaffiusBelgium
