- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 243 reviewsThis place is truly special and fully conveys the magic of Azorean tranquility, comfort, and harmony with nature. We spent a few days here in February during the worst weather, but we felt warm and cozy in our tent thanks to the lovely fireplace and electric heater. The hosts, Pedro and Antónia, are incredibly warm, hardworking, and hospitable people. A wonderful breakfast made from local products is kindly left in a basket on your porch, allowing you to sleep in without worrying about missing it. I could go on and on about this place, but the best way to experience it is to stay for at least three days. Highly recommended!Guest review byOleksandrPortugal
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 70 reviewsHad an amazing stay. Not only are the rooms super comfortable and clean, the view of the ocean is amazing, the breakfast is lovely and the hosts are super nice! They have farmland, where they grow organic products and also a huuge and beautiful garden, which is just out of this world. Even a tunnel, which ends by the shore. The landing strip of the airport is very close by but it is not loud at all, since the airport is not very busy. It's rather entertaining watching the planes. Would visit Faial again just to spend more time at this place.Guest review byEvaSwitzerland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 739 reviewsAmazing hotel close enough to the port yet quiet and comfortable. I was able to check in a little earlier as a room was available. Both the breakfast and dinner are good value for money and varied. Open also to non guests, with a buffet available if enough people are staying at the hotel. The room and common areas were very clean. Parking is available close to the property however it can get busy during the week.Guest review byAndrewMalta
- From US$175.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 145 reviewsThe balcony and the few from the hotel room was amazing. You see the sea, the sailing boats and the mountain Pico on vis a vis island, where behind the mountain the sun raises every morning. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast has a big selection. Location perfect vis a vis Supermarket, Restaurant and direct at the harbour, where the whale watching and other tours can be booked and start.Guest review byMonikaAustria
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 52 reviewsOur host Nuno was incredibly friendly and helpful, sharing lots of information and advice about the island which we found invaluable. The house was lovely, very comfortable and well appointed with a lovely view over the sea and near great natural swimming pools which were perfect for snorkeling.Guest review byVickiUnited Kingdom
- From US$137.21 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 411 reviewsThere was fresh fruit in our room, the staff were very kind and hospitable in every aspect! As we did not like the regular filter coffee at breakfast, so we were served quality coffee with no additional change. We stayed in the hotel for just one night but would like to come back for longer.Guest review byMarekPoland

And very close to Horta that is the big city in the island. And very kind the women of the House.Guest review byJuanSpain

What I love about Horta is that you feel like you are entering an entirely different culture and way of living. I do not like traveling to areas where I feel it is American culture in a foreign place. If I go again I would definitely make more of an effort in learning the language enough to carry on small conversations. Breakfast was a culture shock for me. I am used to protein shakes and toast in the morning. They do not eat breakfast that way. There was only one place that served omlettes or eggs but even there it was not close enough to an American breakfast. Lunch and dinner were fine. If you will be there for a week or more I highly suggest you go to the grocery store for breakfast items like milk, cereal, bread etc. The pastries at the various bakeries are to die for. I have put on weight despite heavy walking.Guest review byAmyUnited States - 10.0

My stay there was great, I especially appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. The place is perfect if you have to catch a morning flight since it is just opposite the airport, also bus station is just across the street. However, it is not very easily accessible from Horta if you don't have your car; the public transport by bus is limited on weekends, even during the week the bus rides only few times a day, Besides one restaurant 1km away, there are also no other places to eat nearby. But the nature around is amazing and place is very nice, the rooms very comfortable and clean and breakfast is good.Guest review byMonikaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Horta has a long history with the sea and sailing.
Horta has a long history with the sea and sailing. Its a walking paradise with sandy beaches and many trails with great views of island and sea. This place will take you back in time, great food and friendly islanders. Its a place where time has stood still for some time, but with all the moderns necessities. Safe place to relax with your family and be at peace. If you are looking for golfing and casinos and five star hotels this is not you.Guest review byPAULOUnited States - 10.0
We loved the island of Faial and the town of Horta.
We loved the island of Faial and the town of Horta. It was low season and the weather was cooler and unsettled but we managed some magical moments to do a walk or check out a view. Our intent was to do more hiking and the wind and rain prevented much of this from happening. The whale factory museum, the volcano museum and the Skrimshaw museum were all worthwhile visits and when the weather is windy or raining, we still managed to learn some interesting things. Renting a car certainly gives you the flexibility to change up your itinerary with the weather. Be sure to check out the hi-lighted restaurants in the guide books. We had some of our best meals in Horta. The people were very kind and friendly....two thumbs up for Faial!!Guest review byNinaUnited States
