Setubal is absolutely fabulous and I am so glad I decided to extend my trip at the last minute and add Setubal. It has a great vibe. Lovely cobblestone streets and colorful buildings. Shops and restaurants on every street. There's the water and beachfront. There are lots of lovely green spaces, parks and playgrounds and gardens. It really has everything and it feels very authentic. I loved it and would happily go back!Guest review byHeatherIreland - 10.0

not so big town, with great and wide sandy beaches, good choice of restaurants and bars for all tastes. i was staying here in September, so it was not very crowded. whether you enjoy relaxing on the beach, or long walks along the beach - this place is perfect. in addition you can take public transport from here to nearby places - it is convenient and reliable way of getting to Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais etc.Guest review byemolendaPoland - 10.0

Sesimbra is a hidden gem on Portugal’s coast -peaceful, charming, and full of natural beauty. The beaches are pristine, with golden sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming or relaxing. The town offers delicious seafood, friendly locals, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Whether you're hiking in the nearby Arrábida mountains, exploring the historic castle, or enjoying fresh fish by the sea, Sesimbra has something for everyone. Booked last minute on our travels. Loved it . Staff very helpful My only complaint would be that the hotel didn’t sell alcoholic beverages but it wasn’t a problem. A small bar 2 minutes away ( lovely) and Lidl next doorGuest review byJanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Montijo is a hidden gem that beautifully blends traditional charm with modern amenities. Nestled close to Lisbon yet far enough to offer a serene escape, this town captivates with its rich history, friendly locals, and stunning natural landscapes. The quaint streets, vibrant markets, and delicious local cuisine provide an authentic taste of Portuguese culture. Its proximity to the Tagus River offers picturesque views and opportunities for leisurely walks or boat rides. Montijo is also a gateway to beautiful farm stays, where you can experience the peaceful countryside and savor fresh, local produce. The town's relaxed pace and welcoming vibe make it perfect for unwinding, while its convenient location allows easy exploration of nearby attractions. Whether you’re seeking tranquility, cultural immersion, or a base for day trips, Montijo delivers an unforgettable experience. A true Portuguese treasure that leaves you wanting to return!Guest review byManishPortugal - 2.0

My recent stay at this property was, without question, the most infuriating and unacceptable experience I have ever endured in any accommodation. Over the course of four nights, my privacy was blatantly violated on multiple occasions. The managing couple entered our room without consent at least twice, with one particularly egregious incident where the hostess barged in despite knowing we were inside, even with the door closed. This was reported to Booking.com due to its severity. Their hospitality was nothing short of deplorable. The hosts constantly monitored our movements, especially in the kitchen, creating an oppressive atmosphere. They complained incessantly about our use of the coffee machine, which was supposedly freely accessible to all guests. The kitchen itself was woefully inadequate, lacking a microwave to heat food, and breakfast was rationed in a manner that felt insulting to paying guests. The hosts’ lack of respect extended to tampering with our personal belongings in the room during our absence, further eroding any sense of privacy or comfort. Their recommendations were utterly unreliable—following their advice about a nearby beach led us to an inaccessible location, resulting in unnecessary frustration. Even at check-out, the hosts displayed shocking rudeness, making no effort to engage with us and treating us with blatant disregard. This property represents the absolute worst of the hospitality industry. The hosts’ complete lack of professionalism, respect, and common decency made us feel like intruders rather than valued guests. I strongly advise against staying here—this place is a disgrace, and the constant surveillance, privacy violations, and hostile environment make it utterly unsuitable for anyone seeking a peaceful stay.Guest review byMoreiraPortugal - 8.0

Alcochete is a very quiet place, every points of interest are at walking distance. You would find Bank, gardens, restaurants and coffee shops every where and friendly staff always ready to attend your queries and guide you the best possible. Recommended place to spend quiet times and enjoy good Portuguese cuisine.Guest review byARMozambique - 10.0

Great town, with access to the train and bus connections to the ferries. Lisbon and Setubal are short cheap rides less than 10 euros on clean and timely transportation. Great restaurants and cafes; local people are friendly. Very walkable town, with some great shops. Lots of great parks with playgrounds and trees. Very few tourists, which means you get to see Portuguese culture without the zoo mentality of many other travellers.Guest review byArthurUnited States - 8.0

Nice friendly city with a lot of locals around. Good fish restaurants and good access to beach and to the Capital - Lisbon. Do not expect a cheap area to eat arounf these areas, but good fresh food.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

We visited Setúbal for a short family getaway and had a fantastic time. The marina and town are filled with excellent restaurants serving fresh seafood, with options ranging from budget-friendly to more upscale dining. One of the highlights was the catamaran dolphin cruise—a wonderful experience. We spotted dolphins and enjoyed a scenic 3-hour journey along the beautiful coastline. It was definitely worth it. Troia Island, just a 20-minute catamaran ride away, was another gem. With its white sandy beaches, vibrant bars, great restaurants, and stylish hotels, it quickly became one of our favorite spots. Getting to Lisbon was also a breeze, with excellent transport connections: only 35 minutes by taxi, or around 45 minutes by train.Guest review byIrisUnited Kingdom
