United KingdomGreat location for an overnight stop on our travels. Louise, the host was lovely and welcoming. Off the main highway and secluded. For the amount you pay we were amazed at we got. Lovely accommodation, BBQ, seating area outside. Plenty of parking. Cereal, milk, etc for breakfast, which was great considering the cost you pay. Onestop petrol station (5-10 min walk) had basic items of food which suited our needs. Nice outlook seeing the mountains in the distance and Alpacas and chickens. Hubby had the best night's sleep. We would stay there again. Oh and don't forget to get a photo of the pink donut!

The garden is impressive. The room is very lovely. There are many details in the room we can feel that they really try to ensure every guest get good rest. Because our stay is also the first day of Chinese New Year, the hostess made us the traditional Chinese cookies. We all really enjoy them, especially my father. We also have a very hearty dinner. We really appreciate their host, which makes our last stay in New Zealand memorable. If we come back to New Zealand, we will definitely visit them again. BTW, their bulldog Pluto is so lovely, will definitely miss her as well.

The location is incredible, just off the riverbed! Make sure to head for a short walk there at sunrise. Rooms are clean and cosy, bath and beds are comfy. In a place that is otherwise rather secluded and barren, you get everything you will need. They also provide a lovely, wholesome breakfast which is much required when exploring the area. The bar menu is plentiful too and well served.

Tash was very helpful, she even waited for me at the bus stop! The motel felt quite new and the room had everything it needed. Clean and tidy kitchen and bathroom, nice tea and hot chocolate 😁 it's in the middle of the village and easy to find.

This road trip was the most picturesque and unique of our 3...
This road trip was the most picturesque and unique of our 3 trips to new Zealand. The views of the snow capped mountains beside lakes and rivers, along with sheep and cattle grazing in green paddocks, along with pine forests made this a drive to remember. Vastle Hill/Kura Tawhiti Conservation area is worth a visit to walk around the limestone rock formations. The town itself is small but interesting. The walk to Devils Punchbowl is a must with the most stunning waterfall we have seen anywhere. The 800 or so steps are easily manageable unless you have bad hips or knees

Springfield is only an hour from Christchurch yet so close...
Springfield is only an hour from Christchurch yet so close to great scenery for drives and many sporting activities including Mt Hutt Ski Fields plus others. Arthur's Pass is a fabulous drive, Rakaia Gorge is beautiful, the drive to Coleridge Power Station, at the back of Mt Hutt is very scenic. The town of Methven is not far away. And there is so much more to see. Springfield is a fabulous base for so much to do and see!

On our way back home to Queenstown, my husband was so tired so we decided to do a last minute booking, was only one room left and we were lucky to get it. The property manager was so kind and very helpful, room was great all we needed a great bed and easy location to drive out. We were based mainly in Rolleston on a daily basis because the family are there and there are many great cafes, restaurants and things to do there. Lincoln is a little smaller but close to Rolleston.

Iconic historical building in an iconic location. The rooms are furnished period appropriate, the restaurant contains a collection of historical curios. The couple running it is very friendly and approachable. The food is hearty kiwi home style cooking.

Luxurious and welcoming. The restaurant at Terrace Downs was exceptional. Highly recommend the Mt Cook Salmon main. Extensive wine selection and great service. Would love to have stayed longer as there is so many exciting activities to choose from.

We chose Darfield because we were doing some research nearby. Darfield is perfectly located to find agricultural supplies and outdoor clothing which we needed. Darfield, just 35km from Christchurch, links all routes also to.the south and west and north. Like many south island small towns, Darfield has a sense of civic pride and is easy to navigate around or through.

Very relaxing area with many outdoor activities to do. Great for families to walk around Castle Hill around the rock formations or fishing along the rivers and plenty of different walks around the amazing areas. There were mountain biking trails up Porters with the team at Porter's lodge able to drive you back up to the top of the trails.
Definitely keen to get back over to explore some more.

It's a while since I had last stayed in the village which...
It's a while since I had last stayed in the village which was magical in the winter sun. I loved exploring all the historic sites as well as places I was familiar with from my childhood. I walked the length of the village and then followed the Arthur's Pass Track to Jack's Hut and then into the Bealey Valley. There are plenty of walking tracks to choose from depending on how long you want to walk. There were fewer birds in the bush than I would have liked. The cafes were good and I could have joined a church service as well!
