The location and view from the kitchen is amazing. Easy check in. The 4 bed-room was comfortable even with a babycot for 2 adults, a child and a baby. There was enough space in the kitchen and fridge to store our things.

Not so many people during the first night, there is a toilet and a sink in the dorm so that's good.
A good surprise, they provide a towel for all the guests.
It's quite rare to see that for backpackers.
I drove from Picton to Glentanner (8 hours drive) it's really good that they let you do a late check-in.
It's not completely indicated in their description but they let your key in the mailbox with the instruction.

The view from the lodge, as well as from the 2 km day hike nearby, is one of the most beautiful we have ever seen.
Fresh air, farm animals, and a friendly host — we couldn’t have asked for more. Make sure to read the instructions sent by the lodge carefully. The road up to the property can be rough, but the scenery is absolutely worth it.
Shared facilities include a strong hot shower, clean toilets, a dining area, microwave, refrigerator, and all necessary cooking utensils to keep your stay comfortable. And don’t forget to, first, pick up the instructions from the post box at the entrance, and second, bring your own food.

Mount Cook Village is a great location if you are planning to do some walks in the area. We did the Hooker Valley Track, Sealy Tarn Track, and the Tasman Glacier View after which we were exhausted and travelling to another location would have been a bit much. Staying at the village was the best decision. At night you can travel slightly out to get the most exceptional views of stars and in the morning you wake up to unbelievably beautiful views of mountains. If you are lucky you might just get some snow.

Hooker valley trek is the main attraction there and it is closed right now
The alternate to that trek is the Sealy Tarns trek which is pretty okay
There are not too many options to eat there so it is a better option to buy your own food before you get here as there arent grocery shops here as well.

We loved the convenient location of the mount cook village.
We loved the convenient location of the mount cook village. It was nice being so close to the hermitage where all the activities were based from. Even though the motel/lodge was less luxurious than the hermitage, the rooms were still very lovely (and had heated floors!). Although it wasn't the best value compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip, the convenient location makes it very worth it.
