It was wonderfully personal with manager Mikke giving us great local information and Leon driving us to and from their sister restaurant Out of Africa in the evening. Very spacious rooms (we booked honeymoon rooms), comfortable big bed, lively bathroom and great breakfast. Small property in lovely garden with secure parking. Despite being on Otjiwarongo’s Main Street there was no street noise at all.

This is a very well run hotel in between the Etosha and Hosea Kuato Airport so ideal for breaking up a 6-7 hour journey. Unlike some hotels booked online, this hotel delivered in every way. Superb clean quiet rooms, easy parking, safe location with friendly attentive staff that excelled. Lovely pool ... lovely evening meal at great prices for UK visitors. 20 ounce steak for £12 .... really! Cant praise this hotel high enough.

Okonjima is a 5-star luxury resort from beginning to end: it's truly a high-class experience where every need is met. Moreover, owners and all the staff do an incredible job in creating a massive sanctuary that truly aims at the highest levels to protect wildlife of all species, but especially the cheetahs. We went on a leopard safari, foot trekking to find the stunning white rhino, and then learned all about AfriCat which truly shows how dedicated this group is to connecting humankind with nature. We are SO stunned at the overall beauty, we have to recommend this with 11 out of 10 stars!

    Otjiwarongo Railway Station with a locomotive worked between...

    Otjiwarongo Railway Station with a locomotive worked between 1912-1960 is a real attraction. We visited the Cultural Center where 14+ children have the opportunity of dancing, playing on instruments, painting, drawing and so on after the school. Also we visited the Multi-Purpose Help Centre, where Monica Tjehiua presented the goals of the MPHC, which -for instance- feed the poor children, and organize lots of programs for the disabled persons, supporting old people. From Otjiwarongo it's quite easy to reach the Cheetah Foundation (40-45 km) and the Waterberg Plateau Game Reserve (80 km) as well.

    This is a perfect halfway house from Etosha to Windhoek.

    This is a perfect halfway house from Etosha to Windhoek. We left Etosha to travel south, visiting the Cheetah Conservation Foundation at Otjiwarongo and then enjoying a relaxed dinner and evening at Out of Town Africa Lodge. Our stay was perfect. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was relaxed, we were not the early birds, but we were not rushed away by the staff. I highly recommend this little gem of a town and place to stay.
