- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 404 reviewsMy husband and I recently had the most incredible stay at Lakaz Chamarel! From start to finish, the experience was simply exceptional. The service provided by the staff was beyond compare, and their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly valued as guests. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile and a refreshing drink. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Whether it was recommending local attractions or fulfilling any request, they were always there with a solution and a genuine desire to make our stay memorable. The hotel itself was a true paradise. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, it offered a serene and tranquil environment that was perfect for relaxation. The attention to detail in the design and decor of the rooms and common areas was impeccable. Each room was beautifully appointed, providing a luxurious and comfortable sanctuary to unwind after a day of exploration. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional dining experience at Lakaz Chamarel. The culinary team showcased their talent and creativity through a diverse range of delectable dishes. From the breakfast spread to the exquisite dinner options, each meal was a delightful journey for the senses. The flavors, presentation, and attention to dietary preferences were all exemplary. The hotel's commitment to sustainability and its integration with the surrounding nature was truly admirable. The eco-friendly initiatives in place, and the preservation of the local ecosystem, showcased a genuine dedication to the environment. I wholeheartedly recommend Lakaz Chamarel to anyone seeking an unforgettable getaway. It's a place where luxury, tranquility, and impeccable service come together to create a truly magical experience. We can't wait to return and create more beautiful memories in this paradise.Guest review byJosianeItaly
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 1,071 reviewsThe hotel is well-located in the vibrant Tamarina area. The hotel is situated across the road from the local beach where you can enjoy swimming, surfing and kayaking in the river. The hotel has a beautiful family pool, as well as an adult only roof top pool where you can enjoy cocktails and getting to know new people. The rooms are well-appointed and there area beach towels and mats in a basket for your convenience. There is a cooler box in the roof which can be filled at the bar to take to your room or the beach. I highly recommend the All Inclusive packageGuest review byJanineSouth Africa
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,154 reviewsPerfect location right by the sea, with sunbeds and beanbags directly on the beach—an amazing spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets. The hotel is just the right size—small enough to feel cozy and personal. There’s a supermarket, rent a car and some restaurants within walking distance, which is also very convenient. The staff is absolutely wonderful, from the owner and manager to the receptionists and waiters—everyone is welcoming and helpful. We had a fantastic stay and truly appreciate the warm hospitality. Highly recommended!Guest review byAnaSlovenia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 916 reviewsGreat hotel in an astonishing area of Mauritious. We could not have asked for a better stay, service was great super kind all the personnel. Great offer of restaurants with plenty of options to choose. The best part is the great variety of experiences, from water sports, to hiking and sport activities. I would definitely repeat again if coming back to the island 😊Guest review byCristinaSpain

Also, the facilities such as the gym, bikes to rent, spa, beach, tennis court were all perfect and not crowded. Walking on the beach was fun, and the water allowed easy swimming even for the not-so-strong swimmer. The food carts added restaurant variety. We had good meals at Bouganvillea and Chez Pepe, but also enjoyed eating in and watching the sunset. Lovely shopping, interesting people, and the public bus service worked for us. However, it was interesting that the same trip was free outbound and then cost 100 rupees (3 people) for the return trip (with no tickets issued).Guest review byDivyaSouth Africa - 10.0

Tu beach is just amazing, the color of the water is impressive, in the public beach you have to possibility to see the see turtles. The place is a piece of paradise. Definitely worth to go and to spend some time there. I would recommend an hotel next to the le Morne beach most of the hotel do not have the possibility to eat or rent the sun bed just daily. Also I would recommend the experience of swimming with the dolphins that is offered almost everywhere.Guest review byAnnaItaly - 8.0

We liked the area close to the Riviere Noire Reserve and it was convenient for the quieter beaches on the south coast. We recommend a guided tour of the Ebony Forest Reserve. We had a fascinating day out with a very knowledgeable guide and saw a lot of birdlife; the views out to sea are also stunning. Be warned: driving in Mauritius is not easy, even with satnav! We got lost several times, especially around Port Louis. If you choose to go to Port Louis, we recommend using the local bus. There is a bus stop two minutes' walk from the apartment (shortly before London Way supermarket). You can pick up a bus at about 7.30 am and return on a 119 bus at 30 minutes past the hour from Immigration Square near the waterfront of Port Louis. If you want to eat out, the Happy Rajah restaurant on the main road serves good value Indian food. The fish thali is particularly tasty.Guest review byVirginiaItaly - 10.0

It's a properly rustic paradise area, away from the more fabricated hotel resorts. Lots of locals who know one another and it feels safe, if a little rough around the edges. It has its own cultural and geographical charm that seems to differentiate it from other parts of Mauritius. Lots of places to eat, a good supermarket - seems expensive for the area, but I think this is quite common. Good offers of boat hire to get over to Ile aux Benitiers, which is well worth it. Close proximity to the lovely Morne peninsular and Black River Gorges National Park and surrounds.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Sure La Preneuse is the nearest beach, though If you're looking for the best beaches around, take that trip to Le Morne beach, it's worth it. We went to the only Thai restaurant in the area,'Ousaporn', indeed an oasis in that small town, great Deco, felt right, the staffs were admirable, the food was succulent but portion were quite small disproportionately over-priced . A day at the beach at Flic en flac is worth the tour, watch the sun set into the deep sea, then hit one of the restaurant around the area.Guest review byYogeshSpain - 10.0

this is amazing place, the view is breathtaking, the chalet is spacious, very calm, the food is satisfying and the staff is very supportive and helping. it is ideal for a short stay as if you would like to do more tours the location is bit far from everything and very challenging to reach. the best is to stay there and visit the nearby places around Chamarel.Guest review byDragicaUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

Flic'en'Flac is the best place to stay on Mauritius, especially if you're visiting Mauritius in July. North was windy, south rainy but west side just perfect. It is a nice, vaste sandy beach with pine trees and palm trees, nice hotels and resorts, bars, restaurants and street food.Guest review byAndrijaCroatia - 2.0
Financial exploitation is the title of this hotel.
Financial exploitation is the title of this hotel. Financial exploitation defines the taxi drivers. Financial exploitation dominates the boat rental services. Financial exploitation extends even to the zoo. Exploitation is the main theme, and as a city, it offers nothing enjoyable.Guest review byMohamed Zaher - 10.0

lovely shopping complexes, boutiques, restaurants, and supermarket if you are self catering. Great place to tour around, for a heli-copter ride in the south to see the underwater waterfall, and go to the Ebony ForestGuest review byCelia ColemanSouth Africa - 6.0
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly.
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly. Le Morne (which is very close) is the only place nearby with a nice beach, but it is widely occupied by luxury hotels. another problem with La Gaulette is that it is not usable as a base for visiting Mauritius, becasue is far away from all main attractions except 7 color earth and Black River falls.Guest review byUgoBItaly
