- From $81.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 129 reviewsVery welcoming, respectful and helpful staff. The location is not in a touristy place but in the heart of an ancient neighborhood, with no car access. About 1/2 mile of walk through sinuous streets lead to this gem of a riadh. All neighbors know it and can direct to either front or back door. It is like a personal small castle in a Moorish fantasy of (1001) Arab Nights, yet no music or entertainment. The room and bathroom are spacious, with ethnic furniture, adorned ceilings, and colorful excavated windows. Tinted geometrical windows let beautiful and colorful rays shine for a serene wake-up. The bathroom walls are fully covered in zellige, the basin is in copper. The patio and garden are a delight to relax and enjoy sunbathing and lounging. Huge living rooms with Moorish style divans at each floor are welcoming for parties? The decor in the staircase and hallways is amazingly authentic. Be ready to climb stairs! The receptionist was particularly kind to offer to run a few grocery errands: fruits, yogurts, and water. Would have loved to have access to a tea pot with tinted glasses to enjoy the flavorful mint tea! The breakfast and cleaning lady has patiently explained how to get to the medina and enrolled the owner's brother to walk me through. He was so kind and faithful as he was heading on a Friday to honor his Mom's in visiting her tomb. Medina is very close (a mile away) once one has joined the main square. Next time, I would seek a room with viewing on the indoor patio and garden.Guest review byLamiaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 684 reviewsThis is an amazing riad, in the midst of Meknes' Medina. The way from the parking place to the riad was approximately a 4 minute walk and easily manageable with trolleys. The design and style of the riad is awesome, very elegant and reduced - a welcome change vs. the overloaded decoration of other properties. We took the upper two suites and they were flooded with light and we were more than happy having ample space and a large bathroom. The rooms also had great heating, which we needed as the nights turned cold. The breakfast is impeccable, and we found the rooftop terrace stunning. The only riad with no television in the room! We loved it! Lots of restaurants nearby and most sights within walking distance. Excellent value for money - this property enjoys our unreserved recommendation!Guest review byLiviaGermany
- From $66.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 240 reviewsDar Zerhoune is a lovely spot if you're looking for a place that is outside of where everyone else goes in Morocco. It's ideal for travelers who aren't seeking a spot with all the bells and whistles a luxury hotel provides but do want somewhere that is cozy and you'll feel like you're at home. The food is excellent and the room is comfortable.Guest review byAmandaMorocco

Interesting medina, market and main square.
Interesting medina, market and main square. Short (free) visit to mausoleum is main event, otherwise not a lot to do. Probably 1 day/night is sufficient. Use as a base for half day visit to Volubolis. Limited decent restaurants , most are in Riads. A restaurant with a terrace with nice views exists on inside of gateway near main gateGuest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A Hidden Gem for Peace and Tranquility
A Hidden Gem for Peace and Tranquility Nestled far from the hustle and bustle of modern cities, this town offers a serene retreat into a simpler, more peaceful way of life. The charm of the town lies in its timeless atmosphere, where modernity is far from the priority. Here, life moves at a slower pace. The architecture of Moulay Idriss mosque is nothing short of breathtaking, The intricate tiles and majestic arches tell stories of a rich cultural heritage, while the fountains within the mosque add a sense of tranquility and spiritual serenity. It’s a place where you can spend hours marveling at the craftsmanship and feeling completely at peace. The landscapes are equally captivating, with vast stretches of olive trees dotting the hillsides. What makes this town even more special is its people — respectful , down to earth and welcoming, they embody the warmth of a culture that values tradition and hospitality. There’s no fuss here, just a genuine sense of community.Guest review byNorMorocco - 6.0
Very authentic city but lacking nice restaurants that felt...
Very authentic city but lacking nice restaurants that felt clean. In the newer area there was a great place called Le Stream. Favorite places were the music museum and mausoleum. Petit Taxis were reasonably priced and made getting around the city inexpensive and easy.Guest review byDonnaCanada - 10.0
Don't believe the online videos or guidebooks that say that...
Don't believe the online videos or guidebooks that say that the whole of Meknes is a building site! While there is a lot of renovation going on, there are still marvelous things to see and do. The medina is very interesting and comes with very little hassling. Its worth taking a day trip - or longer - to the mid Atlas mountains.Guest review byJaneSouth Africa
