Everything!! Such a wonderful place to stay in Luxembourg. Host was amazing!! Amazing room in a period home. Looked after us and our bikes really well as we arrived soaking wet from rain from cycling there. Be warned there are some stairs inside. Close to the elevator connecting upper and lower city. After confirming the position It turns out that the special sign for the disabled has been erased due to use and is difficult to see at night. Therefore, please inform the hotel management of placing phosphorous and stinging signalsI hope that you will contact the hotel management and ask them to pay this fine because the responsibility falls on them and Credit my account

    Very walkable city, there is a “High Town” & a “Low Town”, so be prepared for some hills. There is a lift joining the two. Interesting historic buildings, squares & park areas. Lots of bars &restaurants. Try the local potato pancakes, served with apple sauce & salad.

    Echternach, if not the entire t of Luxembourg, is an...

    Echternach, if not the entire t of Luxembourg, is an underrated gem. Being English we barely heard a single country person and you are really missing out! If you love the outdoors I couldn't think of a better place to come. Public transport is entirely free and very easy to navigate with the brilliant app mobiliteit.lu. We went on trains, buses and trams entirely free the whole time. It is very easy to set off from Echternach on a bus then walk all the way back, or just do a loop then return back to base. The Mullerthal trail app again is really helpful to find out what walks are in each area - app.mullerthal.lu. But you could just walk directly from Echternach and our youth hostel. The Hostel was set on the lake. There was a climbing wall, bike hire, walks and swimming lakeside. A huge adventure playground with toilets, a Roman villa, a great restaurant - all within minutes. Two supermarkets, one close to the lake and the other in the town gave plentiful options for food. The town is very attractive and has a long pedestrian street with outstanding restaurants (if you love Sushi go to Wangs, it was out of this world). It's a simple hour trip from Luxembourg city so could be done in a day but that wouldn't do it justice. You could also get to Trier in Germany (amazing city!) in about 45 minutes if a city trip was your thing. You should go!

    Berdorf is my favorite go-to location if I wanna go on a hiking weekend. It's about a three hour drive from where I live, so very doable for a weekendtrip. The entire Echternach region in beautiful (check out the Mullerthal Trail), but the region around Berdorf is especially beautiful. The forests around Berdorf all have those typical rock formations with stairs and ladders, little chasms etc that really make it so much more interesting than a normal forest hike. The town itself is very small and is really just meant to spend the night in between two days of heavy hiking.

    We technically stayed in Orscholz, which is a smaller hamelt of Mettlach. It's right where the Saarschleife is as well as a number of biking and hiking trails. We only did the Saarschleife and the Spielplatz, but could have spent a couple days there!

    Luxembourg is so easy to get around, trams in the city are free and frequent. The train to other parts are also free and frequent, allowing you to travel to all their historic sights. It is so beautiful really capturing the blend of modern and old. Lot of parks and green spaces to relax or explore on foot or by bike. The people of Luxembourg were friendly and helpful. There were lots of food choices and prices were not over the top. Really impressed with Ettlebruck and Vianden for a day trip. Luxembourg has a lot to offer for any age group along with, families, teenagers and couples.

    Lovely city, lots of sights to see. After 3 visits we still haven't seen everything. Lots of places to have a drink in the afternoon and early evening, but bar and terraces do seem to close early. So if it's a warm summer evening and you want to have an evening drink that may be a bit of a problem.

There are a lot of very nice hikes easily accessible from there offering tranquility and interesting landscape alongside the river Saar, for example. Burg Montclair, the remains of a castle on the hill, is also accessible and you can get coffee and cake until the end of October.
