Arriving at Art Yala my mouth fell open. Located at the lake with a beautiful terrace and the interior design could be found in a magazine. With the most delicious vegetarian rice & curry, a bathroom like a ballroom hall and a bed where you never want to come out made clear that my stay was too short. And the safari with the best and most friendly guide Dulitha made it complete. Thank you!

Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

We loved everything with the hotel. The facilities, the spacious and comfortable rooms, the exceptional service from the staff, the food and the pool area. This is set in the most beautiful area! Right near a lagoon with so much wildlife as well as nearby local villages. The owner was so helpful and did everything he could to make our stay the best! His wife cooked a brilliant sri Lankan meal for us, including Buffalo curd for desert, which was delicious. He organized a great safari for us at Yala. He also took us out for a tour for about 2 hours around the local area and showed us local wildlife and other important parts, which was amazing! So pretty! This was a small cost and so worth it! If we had time, we would have stayed longer. Beds comfortable, rooms beautiful, lovely balcony at the front of the property. It's one of our favorite stays!

Location, Staff, food, facilities everything is so so good. The staff were so lovely and welcomed us with a tender coconut welcome drink even though we reached there a little late. We ordered dinner, and without hesitation, they prepared it for us. I travelled with elderly family members with so many dietary restrictions, they accompanied us with smiles. Sampath our chef there is amazing and so humble. The whole place is surrounded by a beautifully maintained garden full of flowers. Overall, we started our Srilanka trip in this place, they have us a positive vibration and a good vibe for our entire trip. I strongly recommend this place whether you travel alone or with your family. Additionally, book a safari with them, great drivers are available to make your Yala Safari memorable trip as well.

For a week we were together with Jay Jay who took us to see the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka and then arrived at his house (LakeSide Cabana) where we were able to meet his fantastic family and spend some excellent time with them immersed in nature. Fantastic experience that we carry in our hearts. Crazy room facing the lake surrounded by nature. Also, dinner was amazing, great food, fresh and local. Finally, a note of thanks also to Indu, friend of Jay Jay, with whom we had an excellent experience at the Yala Safari, he managed to find the Leopard, we were in the front row observing and photographing it!❤️❤️❤️

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes. In summary, if you are looking for a place to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of Yala, look no further than Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort. Do yourselves a favor and experience the outstanding service and serene environment – you won't regret it.

We stayed at the leopards nest for 1 night and it truly was an unforgettable experience. After reading some mixed reviews, it exceeded our expectations and I am so happy we planned this into our itinerary. The hotel sent driver information which we shared with our driver and everything was seemless. The safari truck was waiting for us and we did the afternoon safari. The guy was great, really knowledgeable- we were lucky enough to see elephants really close up and many other amazing animals. He then took us to the hotel around 6pm. We had a bbq dinner which was very cute, the food was really good quality too. We booked a sky nest and had a couple of little frog visitors in the bathroom but we didn’t mind, they added to the memories! The sky nest was really clean and more comfortable than we were expecting. WiFi only worked in the main restaurant areas but that’s okay, it was nice to be off the grid for one night. Again, breakfast exceeded our expectations and the hotel liaised with our driver for a smooth pick up. The staff are lovely and I fully recommend for one night if you want a safari and jungle glamping experience.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and taken care of. The tents were beautifully set up, blending comfort with the authentic charm of being right in the heart of nature. Falling asleep to the sounds of the wild was both thrilling and peaceful. The highlight for us was the safari itself—our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, making every sighting special. We were lucky enough to spot a variety of wildlife, and the kids couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every meal felt like a treat, and it exceeded all of our expectations. Sharing stories around the fire after dinner made the evening even more memorable. Overall, this experience was everything we hoped for and more. Our family left with full hearts, happy memories, and a strong desire to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a magical blend of adventure, comfort, and nature.

Out of all the hotels we visited in Sri Lanka, this was one of our favourites. It blends seamlessly into nature, with a main area featuring a pool, restaurant, and bar, plus chalets spread across a vast, wildlife-filled area (bonus: while we expected a lot of mosquitoes, there were none!) The chalets are stylish and very clean. The restaurant offers incredible food, and the staff was exceptionally kind (big credit goes to Danushka). The bar above the restaurant is perfect for sunset cocktails. The hotel also organizes safaris—we did morning ones and loved them. Afterward, lounging by the pool was a treat. Though on the pricier side, we highly recommend it!

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.

This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
