Everything was amazing. The room was big and modern and the hospitality was above and beyond. The best breakfast we’ve had in Sri Lanka and an extra plus was the swimming pool. We booked the safari through them as well which made the process so easy. 100% recommend.

Leels safari cottage, a pocket of paradise. we spontaneously booked our stay here for 2 nights in hopes to do a safari. We’ve been travelling Sri Lanka for over a month now and I can say this has been the nicest place we have stayed at. The pictures are exactly like the place which we were so pleased about, the room its self is beautiful, comfortable beds, beautiful layout and decoration with the blessing of air con and a fan. They also supply mosquito nets, this was the first place we weren’t bitten once! As for the bathroom it’s wonderful, full of plants with an rainforest vibe. It’s all so clean and well stocked with a kettle, wardrobe, shelf’s and great mirrors. The attention to detail is amazing you can tell a lot of love and hard work has been put into this place. The lighting is lovely giving it a cosy feel. We had breakfast included and added on dinner for both nights as the food was too good! Cooked by the loveliest ladies who do everything they can to make sure you’re happy. So much selection for both breakfast and dinner really yummy and enjoyable. It’s the perfect place to relax but also seek adventure. We woke up early one morning to go for a run, the area is lovely everybody smiles and says hello. and the views are really beautiful with thriving nature. We went to an elephant orphanage near by, luckily they know people for transport etc and Leel suggested this activity for us, we didn’t know about this place prior our visit! But so glad we went it was amazing! Our second day was Safari day, we were delighted that Leel himself is one of the greatest safari tour drivers, so we set off early in the morning and embarked on our safari around Udawalawe. I know it will be one of my favourite memories we are really grateful for Leel and his dedication to make sure we had the best time and see as many beautiful animals as possible! I have been travelling through Sri Lanka for 3 weeks now. This place is, hands down, the best I have stayed at. The location is excellent and so are the facilities. The rooms are bright, spacious and very clean. Everything (such as faucets, air conditioning, etc) is not only in good working order but also of good quality. It's a new hotel with an inviting pool, what is there more to wish for... Well, as great as this place is, its biggest asset is the manager. He understands the importance of personalized service! A big thank you to him and all his staff for making me feel so welcome.

I don't even know where to start. This place is one of the best we stayed. First when you come, you see the amazing garden they have. Then the cabin, it was soo clean and beautiful. The terrace has a peaceful and gorgeous view. The owners were so welcoming and kind. I had some problems with my ear, and they went above and beyond to help me feel better and make our stay pleasant and comfortable. And the food !! Oh my God, the best food we tasted in Sri Lanka !! We had such an amazing stay in the jungle. Thank you one more for everything.

Remote and surrounded by nature. Was wonderful to peacefully wake up to the sound of birds. The dinners were great tasting and well presented. I was welcomed warmly and treated very kindly during my 2 night stay. The hotel arranged transport for me to and then from the hotel with a great local driver, Posheeter. The safari tour they arranged was with a great guide Nishander, he seemed very experienced and I saw lots of elephants, monkeys, mongeese, deer etc. The pool was clean and a comfortable temperature.

Clean and tidy. The place was home away from home. Gayan’s mum cooked us delicious dinners and breakfast. She made special olive pickle for afternoon snack. Gayan found a place to stay for our van driver and took dinner to his accommodation. We used Gayan safari jeep and the safari jeep driver was very knowledgeable.

Beautifully situated, among the jungle and a garden embedded in it. We arrived quite late, but despite this they waited for us and offered us dinner! The caretaker of the facility is a very nice gentleman who cares a lot about the well-being of his guests. The guesthouse is decorated in a uniform style that matches the surroundings. Every detail is thought out. The rooms are spotlessly clean, always with a view of the jungle (some, like ours, also have a balcony). In the morning we had a delicious breakfast - fruit and a chosen form of egg. It was a sufficient portion for us. In addition, coffee / tea / juice. It was wonderful for us to wake up in such surroundings and start the day like this. Although the monkeys jumped on the roof of our building, it was an additional attraction for us. I would like to visit such places more often. Hidden gems with excellent service.

We booked a last minute room for just 1 night for an early morning safari and this hotel was absolutely fantastic and without fault- Staff kindness and respect instantly stood out from our arrival as all staff showed my partner and I equal regard (rarely the case in traditional Sri Lanka). We received a surprise upgrade and the room was beautiful. The hotel is only a 15-min drive from National Park gates and the hotel manager organised a fantastic safari for us on short notice (from us). The room is very well appointed with a tea/coffee station, comfy bed, hot water shower, a very good pop-up mosquito net and decent air con system. Thank you to Kalu's team for a wonderful stay.

This wasn't our first stay, so we obviouly like this place. The manager Anand couldn't have been kinder. He looked after us like super VIPs. He was everywhere making sure that we were fine. A big thank you to him. We forgot a swim suit and he offered to send it by courier service to our next hotel, which he did. The hotel itself is small and not for everyone. The rooms needs a complete rework - they don't do this place justice. They are in a poor state. But the location is incredible and I hope, this will never change - please never cut ANY of the trees! This is the biggest asset- the jungle and all its noises, the beautiful light filtering through the canopy.

If you are going on safari and want to truly experience the real spirit of it, I highly recommend staying at this camp. The campsite offers modern tents with their own open-air bathrooms, giving you comfort while staying close to nature. The area features two swimming pools, a bar, a lovely banana garden, and a dining area. Breakfast and dinner are varied and delicious. The staff is extremely kind, helpful, and welcoming — we were greeted with a refreshing glass of juice upon arrival. Before the early morning safari, tea and coffee were already prepared for us, which was a very nice touch. A wonderful experience overall — highly recommended!

I had such a great experience there. The owner, Sanjaya really was so helpful. If there is any kind of problem, he will help you anytime. The room was comfortable, and nice in size, with a coffee maker and Air Conditioned as well. The bathroom has hot water. The breakfast is awesome, with many varieties of fruits, eggs, and curries. I can't even remember everything I had served on the table. The cherry on the cake, there is the POOL. Nice size, and the perfect temperature. Definitely, I enjoyed being there! Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. Ratnapura is a fascinating town with few concessions for the western tourist. If you have an interest in the real, gritty Sri Lanka (particularly if the gem industry has appeal) then this town will afford endless stimulation. If, on the other hand you are looking for a holiday resort with restaurants and attractions don't bother - stick to the west coast.

Let me first say how accomodating the staff was. The staff at Glenrock ensured that we were well taken care and went above and beyond with extras to ensure we were happy.  Lodging: The lodging was excellent, I slept very well in their comfortable bed and the ceiling fan with the AC was perfect.  Environment: The area and grounds offer a spectacular view from above and below, we did not want to leave, heard a few monkeys on our roof during the night. Food: The dinner was good and the breakfast was plentiful, they did not leave our side and ensured the breakfast on the river was done perfectly. They went out of their way to make us happy. Overall: My team,my wife and I loved "The Glenrock", we will stay again and stay longer next time. Thank you to the entire team

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an...

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an interesting trip into real sri lankan life. Cafe's cake shops, restaurants etc - and banks/ATMs - in fact not much that you don't need. A 30mins drive to the beach going south and a 15 in drive to the national park for the elephants. To say nothing of the peacocks constantly gracing Illukawella's gardens.

Nothing much to see in Rakwana town.

Nothing much to see in Rakwana town. But the surrounding mountain areas are breathtaking. Avoid the Rakwana-Deniyaya 10-bends road as it is under heavy construction work and very difficult to travel by a car.

Amazing experience!

Amazing experience! It's a hidden gem in Sri Lanka and will cater for every type of need. You love nature but dont want to hike, this is the place to go. You want to hike in the Singharaja forest? Well this is the best place to stay. You just want to be with your loved one? Nothing can beat this place. The bunglow itself is an art in the middle of the forest, packed with memories from the past but also with all modern day amenities to make you comfortable. Above all, the staffs are exceptionally good and will ensure you have personalised experience all the time. They will know yoir need even before you notice. I woild like to thank Lasith for his exceptionally hospitality. I have been to many places but never found someone like him.

This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka!

This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka! It was such a beautiful surprise! Calm area, very nice outdoor setting, the room was very spacious (as was the bathroom!) So let's talk details: - Food: Amazing! Home cooked food, with candlelight and the sounds of nature! - Safari: He was a very good company during my trip! He gave me some tips, was very flexible with my requests. - Helpfulness: Arranged a taxi to my next destination, Overall, it was totally worth it, you will really enjoy it! !

We were only passing by for some business matters.

We were only passing by for some business matters. But holiday wise nothing really much to see unless you're an agri culture enthusiast. Pretty close to Udawalawa National Park, so it's a good stop over for someone who wants to do Udawalawa Safari.

Where to start... We had a wonderful stay!

Where to start... We had a wonderful stay! Our host Ravidu is a very kind man, he welcomed me and my girlfriend into his family. We will forever be grateful for the special memories created there. His wife cooked us delicious traditional Sri Lankan food at night. Thank you very much ☺️ The bed is extremely comfortable and the room is spacious and very clean. It was nice to have a place to hang out on the terrace. There are many beautiful plants around the property that give it a jungle feel. We saw many tropical birds around. I 100% recommend booking a safari through Ravidu, he partners with a guide with many years of experience. The safari guide was knowledgeable about the animals and different species we saw on the safari. He was very respectful of the wildlife and drove slowly through the park unlike other jeeps..!!
