We had the most amazing stay here! The best so far in Sri Lanka. For the price you get the most heartwarming staff that will help with everything. The food is good, the rooms are nice and clean. The area is so pretty and right at the beach with nice waves and no people. Tony, one of the staffmembers was super sweet, very helpful, and made sure we had an amazing stay. We spent our first day/night in Sri Lanka here, and we liked it very much, we might have wanted to stay longer. We got an upgrade to a very beautiful room with a big bathroom including a small private pool which was perfect to cool down after the long journey. The bed was also great, very big and comfortable, it was perfectly silent at night and we slept very well! The food was delicious! In addition, the staff was very helpful with my Gluten-intolerance and I did not have any problems! In addition, they helped us out when our driver did neither show up nor pick up the phone for more than an hour, and thanks to the very helpful staff we found a new one. Thank you for everything :)

Truly amazing stay at Turyaa. The room was spacious and exceptionally clean. The view was breathtaking, specially at sunset. The variety in food was good. The staff were friendly but professional. The spa is worth a visit if you are there. Would definitely visit again.

The breakfast buffet was very good and the quality of...

The breakfast buffet was very good and the quality of treatments at the spa did not disapoint. However, we were disappointed with the general professionalism of the staff considering it is a 5 star resort. The staff was kind and friendly but just not up to the standard one would expect of a 5 star hotel. Here are a few examples: at the pool we ordered some food and when we were going to sign for the bill, the waiter said they had made a mistake and charged us for a dish that was 0.50 USD more than what we had ordered. He asked us if we didn't mind paying the extra amount so that they didn't need to redo the bill. Of course we didn't mind as its such a small difference (so we accepted) but out of principle, if a mistake is made by the staff, they should know to just fix the error rather than asking the guest to make up for their mistake (however small). We were also disappointed at dinner that the two a la carte restaurants were only open on alternate nights as it meant we couldn't get a table until 9 pm which is late with kids. Also the first wines we tried to order were out of stock. Finally on the second night at the Italian, three of the dishes we chose were unavailable. This is understandable as it is end of season, but again is not expected at a 5 star hotel. That said, the quality of the food at the Italian was really very good. As for the rooms, although comfortable, the extra maintenance effort is lacking. The hot and cold water in the shower was very difficult to control; the light in the small magnifying mirror in the bathroom was not working and the main telephone in the room did not work. Lastly, we visited the spa and although the overall experience was very good and the therapists were experienced, it was disappointing to have to wait over half an hour (after our scheduled appointment time) for our treatments. Overall, this felt more of a 3-4 star hotel than 5 star.

Poor staff service during our visit while it was raining Unfortunately, they did not provide any umbrellas, and the staff did not seem concerned about the situation. However, the property is in a fantastic location, and I would still recommend it for a visit. It’s worth noting that the Sri Lankan economy has been affected by political issues, which had a significant impact on the tourism industry. Many employees currently working in this sector are relatively new, which may explain some of the service shortcomings we experienced.

The hotel itself probably needs an uplift e.g. pool deck is old, pool lounge chairs are broken, walls need a new coat of paint, however we enjoyed our stay as the pool and hotel surroundings are quite nice. Food at the restaurant was surprisingly good. Room was large and air cond worked well, beds are big. Bathroom needs updating but shower was strong and good temperature. Overall, a good hotel but don’t expect 5 stars.
