We had a warm welcome with tea/coffee offered upon arrival. During the stay the host was very approachable for any questions we had. It’s conveniently located and walking distance to the entrance of Adams Peak. Nice breakfast is served, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Perfect experience as the last night in Sri Lanka. The hotel is located in a large tea garden only with 39 rooms, next to a local village, a quiet place with great tea garden view and full of fresh air. The hotel has designed several hiking path for the guest, worth to try. The staff here is extremely friendly and considerate. They almost thought about everything I needed during my stay. The quality of the service here is impressive.

It's conveniently close to all the action – bars, restaurants, and surf spots – yet provides a wonderfully quiet and relaxing escape.The rooms were spacious, well-equipped, and impeccably clean. The staff were exceptionally professional and always attentive to our requests with a special thanks to Shiron! The meals, from breakfast to dinner, were consistently tasty, and the menu offered a great variety.I highly recommend Grand Hotel that contributing to our perfect family vacation.

    Worth every penny, heritage building is spiced up with modern comfort, even simply staying within the hotel compound counts as sightseeing. Service easily meets international 5-star standards, and the surrounding flower and tea gardens, mighty firs, and hills bathing in clouds will make you feel disconnected from the current world reality. On the other hand, if you need to connect, their wifi works great.

    The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking 24 hectares of tea plantation, surrounded by luscious mountains. It is the perfect combination of peace and isolation amidst a breathtaking scenery. The hotel staff are very attentive to guests’ needs - be it booking car transfers or showing the best hike routes in the area. This place is a gem and we look forward to coming back.

    We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were so attentive and helpful. We were arriving in later than expected and they had food prepared for us. The breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect as well very close to everything. Couldn’t recommend the accommodation enough - really happy with the accommodation and again the staff were just so great.

    Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

    A nice area to do a lot of treks amongst the tea plantations . central location if you need to drive up to hill station of Nuwera Eliya or experience the wild life at Horton Plains, A lot of Hindu Kovils to explore in town of Hatton and Tea Factory experience at Dunkeld Tea Factory.

    Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local...

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

    Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be...

    Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!
