The property and grounds were picturesque. The grounds were very well kept. The details of everything is something to see. The fresh fruit and food was delicious. There were many good vegan, vegetarian options to choose from, which was helpful because I am a vegan. My husband enjoyed the meat options. The various amounts of drink options were also appreciated. Our visit to beautiful Mombasa, Kenya was an experience and our stay at Serena Beach Resort & Spa was an experience just in itself. I don't even think we had walked the entire compound as there were several areas for restaurants, activities, wine/cocktail bar/poolside bar seating and other multi-purpose seating areas. The steps that led us to the beautiful bech held even more opportunities to enjoy water activities, ride a catamaran boat out to feed and swim with the fish (look for Ali because he was wonderful), take photos with the camels, get your name carved in wood, and shop at the local pop up on the beach- so bring some Kenyan shilling. We got lucky and played football with the local young kids on the beach! It rained more than usual so we weren't able to hop on the jet skis this time. We truly loved every minute of my stay and have aspirations to return again someday. I am highly recommending Serena Beach Resort & Spa to anyone who is going to stay in Mombasa, Kenya. We were looking for a family holiday by the sea and can...
We were looking for a family holiday by the sea and can thoroughly recommend Mombasa. The apartment was on Lido beach which suited us perfectly and found a local taxi driver to take us to attractions such as Haller Park and Wild Water (water slides). The city is busy and there's significant work being done to the roads. So expect the occasional jam and some very bumby roads. In July the temp was just under 30 degrees C and there was a refeshing breeze from the south to temperate this. That also seemed to keep the mosquitoes at bay. We were pleasantly surprised to find some very good restaurants (e.g. CJ's near Wild Water - good food and good service). We didn't sample the night life nor take a safari to Amboseli - something for next time!Guest review byRobert - 10.0

Powdery white sand that is very easy to walk on. The reef about 500-600m offshore breaks the outer waves so inside the reef is moderately calm. Water shoes recommended due to sea urchins in some areas. A nice beach for walking, but you will be approached by vendors. A polite 'no' is usually sufficient. Several excellent places to eat along the stretch of beach where we stayed - Nomad's, Faulty's at the Flamboyant, Ali Barbour's Cave (reservation required), and Asha Boutique (Friday night beach buffet).Guest review byKenBinCanadaCanada - 10.0

Some really good beaches... very full day trips on boats... lots of stalls to purchase things... good supermarkets on the main road if you are staying in a villa... due to the heavy Italian tourist presence, there are plenty of great eateries and restaurants... easy to get around on motorbike or tuk tuk... generally very safe compared to Nairobi.Guest review byAsefUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lamu is the real Swahili Coast. The atmosphère is authentic. With everyone on foot because there are no cars the sense of community is very strong. Architectural style of the village has been well maintained. There are good local eateries, and the peponi restaurant in Shella village is outstanding. We went everywhere by water taxi. If you like to walk...it needs only 10 minutes to go in town. It is not a place for a holiday, I was there to check on some of my Property but I was frustrated because I ended up staying for more Days than I had wanted. Driving to the lodge didn’t encounter many animals due to bush and lava rock. But at Serena we saw hundreds of animals including many small babies come to the large waterhole right in front of us.
