- From $305.87 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 226 reviewsA solid and unexpectedly wonderful Ryokan hotel. The staff were completely on point and everything looks immaculately clean, modern, and well-kept. I was really blown away by the size of the room, probably the biggest I’ve seen in all of Japan! The Obachan who makes the onigiri is an absolute delight. The way she interacted with the young children was just so sweet and heartfelt! Ingredients listings on all the foods was also super helpful to avoid activating my shellfish allergy. Also - buffet carts?! Genius!Guest review byDaneUnited States
- From $119.36 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,145 reviewsThe room is traditional Japanese style, futons on the floor. But they prepared futons for us already so we didn't have to do it ourself. The room has plently of spaces, tea room, bedroom and little balcony that can be open to enjoy the bridge view. Normally onsen hotel with traditional style room might not have a shower room, but this place got one too! The surroundings is quiet and peaceful, I'm very impressed with this hotel and will definitely come back for more.Guest review byBoontarin CThailand

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip.
The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip. If you travel on to Takayama I recommend seeing the one tenth scale model of the shrine complex which is almost unbelievable in its detail and precision. Nikko is quite a sleepy town and many restaurants shut very early so I recommend making a reservation. The Nikko pass is worth purchasing, we enjoyed a day sightseeing on the local buses and trains. We had an outstanding dinner at Global Table, located on the Main Street in Nikko, well worth booking this for an unforgettable experience with Chef Ishida.Guest review byJeffreyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We liked the room it was quite spacious.
We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The breakfast offered a lot options both Japanese and Western. The staff were very helpful finding some bus information and lending us umbrellas and adaptors.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 6.0
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.Guest review byDeltaBegaAustralia - 8.0
The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs.
The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs. It has the Shiobara hot spring village, which has a rich spring quality and has been loved by royalty and literary masters. You can enjoy the traditional hot springs surrounded by nature in spite of the easy access from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is just an hour away from Tokyo. Each hot spring in the city is different in scale and taste, but it is an adult resort where you can spend your luxurious time by soaking in the hot spring to your heart’s content.Guest review byBestUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical.
Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Every corner feels like stepping into a postcard—lush, serene, and full of natural wonder. The town itself has such charm, with its cozy streets, warm hospitality, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We stayed for three nights, which gave us time to explore, but we truly wish we had stayed longer. There’s so much more to see and experience, and the beauty of the area leaves you wanting to return.Guest review byTracyUnited States - 8.0

The Nasu Kaido is a famous and really scenic road that goes from the lowlands of Nasu town all the way up to the Nasu mountains, and it's beautiful to drive up - if you have a car. The road is a two lane highway that (in Summer) is very busy and not intended for bicycle or pedestrian use when you get to the uphill portions of the road, so be sure to use a vehicle or public transportation if you want to go further up it. The public transportation options are present - you can take the Shinkansen to NasuShiobara Station, then take the bus to the Nasu Mountain Ropeway, then take the ropeway to the near top of one of the mountain peaks and hike from there. It's a good venture, though if you try it on the weekend, be sure to check when the last buses operate, or else you might have to take a taxi.Guest review byLeeUnited States - 10.0

We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza. Also get out to Ohya! The museum, the cafes, Tagefudousan... It is better to have a car to get to the beautiful spots on the outskirts of town like onsens.Guest review byStacy & MotokiJapan
