Everything, upon arriving and entering the lobby then into our room the surroundings already felt super relaxing, even more inside the room where all you need is available from full skin care, comb, body towel, coffee, black/matcha, different type of pillows (firm/soft). We didn't get the chance to try the onsen, breakfast was great as well. Options of japanese and western sets for each person. Check-in was smooth and the concierge was super helpful.

Everything is excellent, new hotel with cozy spacious lobby, free coffee and lounge space available from the moment you check in, onsen and breakfast was wonderful as well, apart from various choice of food there's even strawberry 🍓!room was nice and clean, giving a view to street of Shizuoka, location is very convenient to city center and shopping area, very nice experience. We loved everything. One of the best hotels we've stayed in Japan so far. Reasonable price & excellent service. Loved that all the rooms have hot spring water flowing. On the territory of the hotel they have a lot of activities: free drink bar in the lounge, mini-live concert in the evening, hand and foot hot spring baths, children play room with games, massage, many types on hot spring baths, souvenir shop and even hand-made classes. We didn't have enough time to explore everything. The food is outstanding and they have a lot of options for vegans/ vegetarians, and all the meals that contain allergens are marked. Also, we appreciate the shuttle bus to the hotel, they came to pick up only 2 of us, although we have arrived late. The room was very quiet, spacious and we had a good sleep, didn't want to leave. Will make sure to come again. You can feel that staff in this hotel truly love their job and care about customers.

Staying in ryukan is a must of my trip to Japan and Arai Ryukan doesn't make me disappointed. Starting from the location of the ryukan which is very easy to reach. You get off to check in and the staff will bring your car to the parking. Checking in is my first impression. The staff is willing to answer your questions and will show you all facilities available. You will have your own personal caregiver. The dinner and breakfast are included in the price and they are very excellent. The onsen both indoor and outdoor are the unforgettable experience. This was a wonderful hotel and I would go back in a flash. It is right on the beach. We were there in February so the pool was closed but the onsen was open. Went there in the morning and last thing in the evening. The rooms are nice and big. Try and get a seaside facing room to enjoy the beach and the rising sun. The staff were friendly. All in all a great experience. Also there is a free shuttle bus to Kawazu town but there is also a train station near the hotel.

This is undoubtedly the best hotel I have stayed in. Everything from the location, the amazing staff, the huge room from where you can see the beach and the incredible private onsen inside the room was 10/10. It’s a bit far from everything but it’s completely worth it. Also, they provide a bus to and from the station.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

Atami is just too full of tourists.

Atami is just too full of tourists. Crowded and no feeling of being in Japan. There is virtually nothing to see in the town except Atami castle. This is a rebuilt castle where each floor (1-5) is a type of exhibition. Only one floor with wooden replicas of many old famous castles is good to see. However, to get there you must buy a $9 cable car ticket and then another $10 entrance fee as well as a taxi fee to get to the cable car. Not worth it.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.

The outlets have always been raved about, but they're just high-end shopping outlets that you could find anywhere. It's not unique to Japan and was a bit of a waste of our time. Otherwise, Gotemba is the perfect area overlooking Fuji, and we love returning every year! Rembrandt Premium Hotel is by far the highlight for us with their meals and stay.

It is a nice city with ocean and good izakaya restaurant culture and a few good museums which we really enjoyed. It was quiet when we visited with very few tourists. City itself has a few good points of interest worth exploring and its located close to other cities which would make for good day trips.

Definitely visit the zoo if you have the opportunity. It’s very interactive with lots of cute animals. The in Granpal Park illumination was also really good! 7/11 and Family Mart have amazing egg sandwiches. The kadowaki tsuribashi suspension bridge and trails are worth the visit as well.

The area was very family orientated, clean and completely...

The area was very family orientated, clean and completely different from Tokyo or Santa that I visited before. Although I felt like I stoodout like a sore thumb with my husband, as I didn’t see a lot of foreigners, but the people around made it so much more welcoming.

It has many places to visit.

It has many places to visit. Of all, we love going up to Mt Omuro enjoying the view and walking round the crater. Jogasaki Coast which has great view of the rock formation. Cape Irozaki is another great place to visit! The Ryokan on the west side has great onsen and is unique too!

Perfect location!

Perfect location! You can see the majestic Mount Fuji from the window. The mountain view in the morning mist is breathtaking. The room is clean and cozy, fully equipped. The host is warm and thoughtful, making me feel as comfortable as staying at home. I will definitely come again!
