The omotenashi - the spirit of Japanese hospitality - was just incredible. Thank you to absolutely every member of the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Person who picked us up in a shuttle, people at the front desk, people who served dinner and breakfast. Simply wonderful. The meals were generous and delicious. Hotel itself is nostalgic retro style. View is beautiful. Public baths are clean and relaxing.

The staff was extremely welcoming and kind. They did their very best to help us to our room, tell us about the hotel, how the traditional Japanese style rooms worked, where we could go dine in the area and much more. They even drove us to the harbour when we were leaving the island. We only wish we had stayed one more might at this hotel. The breakfast was quite good as well, and a motherly staff member explained everything in detail here as well, as how to enjoy the food the best way possible and more. We're definently coming back.

One of the highlights of our visit to Japan. Beautiful property with a lovely courtyard/garden. Quiet street relative to the main touristy stretch, though close and easy to find. The best part was the owner/host, a wonderful and kind person. He made our stay very comfortable, gave restaurant recommendations, and provided a delicious breakfast. He also showed genuine interest in us and where we were from; our interactions were cheerful.

The Iwaso clearly was a highlight of our 3-weeks honeymoon in Japan. The staff was very sweet and incredibly helpful. The restaurant makes delicious dishes, with several options for breakfast, and if you stay two nights like we did, don't expect to have twice the same meals! My husband got the best meat of his life (the best wagyu beef he had during the trip), as well as blowfish, and several oyster-based dishes (locally grown oysters, of course). The restaurant staff even adapted to my dietary requirements (vegan) and was able to make very, very delicious dishes with all kinds of seasonal products. Regarding the room! A spacious, very pretty and neat room with view on the Torii. Watching the sunset slowly darken the mountains and the Torii while drinking great tea and sitting on tatamis in the comfortable kimonos lent by the hotel was priceless. Ah yes, and as a tea lover, you actually have great tea in the room (two types, including genmaicha, in leaves in nice tea boxes, not teabags). And what can I say about the location? The park in front of the hotel is full of momiji trees, which become scarlet red in late November. Across the park lies the ropeway to get up the mountain, but you can also take the hiking path like we did, and reach the summit within a bit more than one hour, to get a great view over Hiroshima bay. Last but not least: the hotel is only a few minutes away from the beach, the shrine and the Torii! I'm a morning person, and I woke up naturally at 5:30 and was able to quickly walk to the beach to watch the sunrise behind the Torii and visit the shrine alone at the opening. An incredible moment, I will never forget this.

The hotel was expensive but offers a great experiment and the luxury to enjoy Miyajima on the evening, without the crow and enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the island. To room was huge and very clean, the bed very confortable. The hotel have a whole floor dedicated to well-being, with a salon, onsen, exterior pool, rock bath, karaoke room... That you can access anytime on the opening hour. They have also kimono at disposition at the entry, a little shop on the 1st floor.

We felt like home. The staffs are nice and gave us very clear instructions and showed us around the property. The guest house is quiet though central located. Just a few minutes walk to the shrine and the sea. We followed the Google map and walked along the seaside and it’s not difficult to find. We met few friendly deers along the way near the guest house. We will returned soon to revisit this lovely island.

Fantastic location but it's the family that run the Inn that make it. They are so lovely. The food was also incredible. Each course was presented beautifully and ingredients explained. You can tell them they are very passionate about their island and culture, we even got a souvenir to take home! Thanks again for the lovely stay. Ronan and Kate

Very friendly and helpful staff from check-in and every meal service. Large quiet traditional tatami rooms. Wonderful private baths that are a must try. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, rivalling ryokans that are twice the price. Definitely recommend going for a stroll after dinner to see the sights at night.

The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.
