Being an aviation person, I loved the aviation theme of this modern hotel. It was easy to reach from Haneda airport, being just one stop along the underground metro routes heading to Tokyo. This hotel doesn't have a advertised shuttle bus although I did notice during our stay that a small 12 seater goes off every 30 minutes, on a first come, first served basis. This is no problem, as the metro station is right by the hotel. They weren't the biggest rooms, but they were clean and to the point and we also got the airport view that we requested. The buffet breakfast offered up a good selection of food, even for a vegetarian like me. I also loved the rooftop terrace although it was closed one day due to high winds and rain. Great views of the city and airport from up there.

I went there for the Ado concert and loved how close and easily accessible the concert hall was from the Hilton. Next the rooms was great and the staff friendly and helpful. I'll likely stay here again next time I come to Yokohama. Lastly, Yokohama is a great ward and area to be in. it's a little far from Tokyo but if you're are down to stay in Yokohama then you'll have a blast.

    Tokyo is intense.

Tokyo is intense. It was the 4th country on our world trip, and the ads everywhere felt like a full-on assault on the eyeballs. We took the metro for everything, which is great… if you enjoy being thoroughly confused and slightly panicked at all times. After a week in Shanghai, where commuting was a breeze, this felt like navigating a video game on expert mode, but we got used to always being lost and somehow ending up exactly where we weren’t supposed to be. Shopping was best at Sunshine Mall...why waste time at stores I can visit at home? Food is amazing and cheap. The locals are incredibly nice… though English speakers are few, which kept things interesting. Overall, it’s chaotic, overwhelming, and kind of brilliant all at once. You need a Suica Card on your phone traveling on the metro without it is a nightmare. Non-Japanese credit cards aren’t accepted, and the app is in Japanese, so good luck following any instructions. I used a Wise digital card on my phone, which works like a Visa and is accepted by Suica. Here’s how we set it up: add the Wise card to your phone like any other visa, then add money to Suica after adding it under transit. Enable Express Mode on Suica so you can just tap your phone over the IC circle at the metro gate (on the back of the phone, not the front). A few stores in malls didn’t accept tap or our credit cards, but Suica worked perfectly. You can transfer up to 20,000 yen at a time from Wise to Suica (the maximum balance on Suica is 20,000 yen, so if you already have 100, you can only add 19,900 more). For larger purchases, just keep transferring money in batches until you cover the total. This method saved us countless headaches and made paying for transit and shopping much easier.

Hakone is so far the highlight of 2 weeks in Japan. Could spend 2 nights there easily. The Free Pass was very good value, easy to use, and a great way to see the area. Start early. Ignore the crowds. Research the spots you want to stop. We wasted time in Hakone machi not realising that we would miss out on the open air museum and other spots around Gora. In hindsight we should have stayed in Odawara, hotels cheaper, only 15mins from Hakone, lots more restaurants and a good vibe too.

In my opinion Narita is worth staying in longer than just for a night after or before the flight. It is a lovely town with one of the most important (and the most beautiful I've seen) temples in Japan, and it is famous for unagi, the eel, which is delicious and defienetly a must to try while in Japan.

Chiba is an amazing city and because Star Wars Celebration 2025 was held there this year, I had to come and visit. The city is only about an hour away from Tokyo and going there from Chiba was easy to do. Locally speaking, Chiba offers many different places to eat (some of the best donuts I've ever had came from a donut shop called Uni Donuts close to the hotel I stayed at) and a cool Anime hobby store.

Touristy, somewhat charmless town that is nevertheless worth it for the magnificent shrines (Shinto, and the resting places of the first and third shoguns) and temples (Buddhist) and the museum (splurge on the museum! Seriously). Many people go to see these buildings + the red bridge (which is merely fine - short and not really noteworthy), but don't venture to the outskirts of Nikko to take in the other sites (Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Botanical Garden, Tamozawa Imperial Villa and much more impressive Nikko Dainichi Bridge).

We were attending a event in Kawasaki so that is why we stayed there. We didn't really do much sight-seeing in Kawasaki. We liked that the city was only a short train ride to many other cities like downtown Toyko and Yokohama. We enjoyed the many shopping and restaurants around Kawasaki Station.
