Huge apartment style room. Service from all staff are incredible and made our 4 days stay very memorable. We walked from the hotel to Red Brick House and slowly stroll to Mt Hakodate Ropeway. Plenty of restaurants around the area. Highly recommend the conveyor sushi near JR Station (Nemoru Hanamaru), had our best meal there with reasonable pricing.

The place was by the port and you can see the port from the terrace. I walked from Hakodate station for about 15 minutes. I did not have any heavy lagguage which was fine but if I had lagguage it would have been difficult to get there by walking from the station.

One of the easiest entry points to Hokkaido via Shinkansen from Tokyo and flights into New Chitose Airport. Very safe and clean.

Assabu is a charming and quiet town in southern Hokkaido, perfect for travelers looking to experience the slower, more authentic side of Japan. Surrounded by lush forests and farmland, it offers a peaceful retreat from the busier tourist spots. While Assabu is small, it has a few unique and culturally rich spots that we visited: 1. Assabu Kyodo Shiryokan – A local history museum that gives insight into the town’s heritage. 2. Assabu Shinrin Tenjikan – A forest-themed museum showcasing the region’s natural environment. Gallery Somabito – A quaint shop featuring local crafts and handmade goods. 3. Michi-no-Eki Assabu – A roadside station where you can find local produce, souvenirs, and snacks. The town is also known for its connection to hinoki-asunaro (thujopsis) forests, which are rare this far north in Japan. Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.

Hakodate is a beautiful scenic town surrounded by mountains.

Hakodate is a beautiful scenic town surrounded by mountains. It's right on the port so lovely for a summers day. We enjoyed our 3 days here, going up Mt Hakodate and walking around the pretty streets. It would be a beautiful spot in Winter when there is snow.
