A lovely, cosy boutique hotel. Very friendly staff with exceptional, Japanese standard hospitality. We stayed for 3 nights and the two bedroom suite was huge. There was a beautiful vacuum tube amplifier in the living room with great speakers. The hotel had a lovely collection of CDs, books and free drinks in their lobby. Our room came with breakfast and each morning we had a chef make a whole selection of either Japanese or Western inspired dishes. The hotel is very near the Jujigai tram stop and you can walk to the ropeway. All in all, an exceptional experience.

Buffet seafood breakfast i have give the word say WAHH, better than i thought ha~ they serve expensive foods. hotel is really big from check in couter to west zone elevator some far away haha. Hotel location nearby trains station, fish market, red house port, cable car station this all you can by walks. Onsen on 13 floors Top floor, when you in onsen nude standing on the windows on street or others buildings people maybe can saw your birdie haha~ Osen have indoor and outdoor. they have free ice cream in onsen place.

1) Excellent location - very near Hakodate JR Station, opposite Hakodate Morning Market, lots of food options nearby 2) Very friendly staff 3) There's also a lift in the property 4) Cleaning staff will replenish the essentials (via a plastic bag hanging OUTSIDE your doorknob) even if you put the "do not disturb" tag. Overall, had an excellent stay here :) Thank you to all the Hotel New Ote staff!

Excellent hotel for a reasonable price, including all you need. The onsen is of high quality and the value is superb. Can highly recommend. This was in low season so maybe prices are different when it’s busy but this was one of the best hotel experiences in Japan in 8 years.

One of the best morning markets in Hokkaido - bigger and less costly than the ones in Otaru and Sapporo. Good place for seafood. Good location for short day trips to the coast. One of the easiest entry points to Hokkaido via Shinkansen from Tokyo and flights into New Chitose Airport. Very safe and clean.

Assabu is a charming and quiet town in southern Hokkaido, perfect for travelers looking to experience the slower, more authentic side of Japan. Surrounded by lush forests and farmland, it offers a peaceful retreat from the busier tourist spots. While Assabu is small, it has a few unique and culturally rich spots that we visited: 1. Assabu Kyodo Shiryokan – A local history museum that gives insight into the town’s heritage. 2. Assabu Shinrin Tenjikan – A forest-themed museum showcasing the region’s natural environment. Hakodate per se is a quaint lite town, whose main attractions can be visited in one day. However, it can serve as a hub for exploring southern Hokkaido as it has all the necessary services. Food is certaiy a plus, particularly seafood, and prices are lower than elsewhere. Also, compared to larger towns on Honshu, it has a frontier-type of vibe.

Hakodate is a beautiful scenic town surrounded by mountains.

Hakodate is a beautiful scenic town surrounded by mountains. It's right on the port so lovely for a summers day. We enjoyed our 3 days here, going up Mt Hakodate and walking around the pretty streets. It would be a beautiful spot in Winter when there is snow.
