- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.6Good - What previous guests thought, 768 reviewsThe forest setting of the houses complex is perfect to avoid the Italian summer heat. We were able to reach the beach, restaurant or the pool almost all the way in shade, making it an enjoyable walk. The car parking spot was close to the house and not under direct sun for the whole day. In addition, the beach was perfect for children.Guest review byMihaiNetherlands

We loved our time in Florence.
We loved our time in Florence. Food was amazing, and staff were welcoming. A down side were the huge queues to see the attractions and the (sometimes) confusing method of pre booking tickets to each location. Wonderful city to explore on foot and easy to get around. The Mercato Centrale is a must for foodies! Booking taxis can be a little tedious, so leave sufficient time if flying out. Beautiful experience. Will certainly return.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 4.0

Attractions were great but the city itself is dirty and too many pedlars and beggars. Police were there in numbers but not acting to stop tourists being hasled. Also be careful with buses as we bought paper tickets at the station and they were flimsy and dont buy returns as they only last 70 minutes. We could not validate our tickets and were fined on the way back. A lot of Italians in the city were very discourteous especially getting on and off busesGuest review byBillIreland - 8.0

Siena is full of wonderful architecture, art and places to enjoy BUT for anyone interested in the early Sienese painting of Duccio et al NB the Pinacoteca Nazionale has closed the entire floor of early paintings for the foreseeable future for upgrading the eco standards etc from August 2025. A major gap!Guest review byAdamUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lucca is a beautiful walled city.
Lucca is a beautiful walled city. There's a lot to see if you are interested in history and culture. There are many delightful bars, pasticcerias and osterias. We would particularly recommend Caffe del Teatro for coffee and pastries. The city is small enough that you can walk out of the city into the countryside. An easy route is along the disused aqueduct path. There are also good bus and train services if you wish to go further afield. Pisa and Florence are easy to reach for a day trip. So is Viareggio. We plan to return.Guest review byMalcolmUnited Kingdom - 4.0

Was not impressed with the city and expected more given all the review I read online. My disapointment could be due to the fact I visited in February, so off season. I booked two nights but decided to only stay for one and left early. Even though I booked a room in the central part of the city I did not feel safe walking the streets at night.Guest review byViktoria - 10.0

We liked exploring the entire City and were fastinated with the old buildings. Only negative comment would be fact you need to pay for the use of the washroom. Most were dirty and lacked toilet seats.Guest review byDanielCanada - 10.0
Nothing not to like!!
Nothing not to like!! Ercolani had excellent free winetour and tasting-fantastic wine! Wonderful Pattiserie with great variety of fresh tasty pastries right at entrance of old town! Plenty of good places to eat with great variety. People very friendly! Streets beautiful!Guest review byMarianeSouth Africa - 8.0
A very attractive town.
A very attractive town. The beaches are superb, but unless you head out of town you need to go into a beach club. There are no free access beaches in town. Some hotels have an arrangement with a beach club for free or discounted access for guests, so it is worth checking this if you intend to use the beaches. It can cost typically EUR30-40 for 2 chairs, a sunbed and an umbrella. They don't offer reduced rates until 3-4pm. That will add up after a few days. The restaurants are OK but nothing special. Most of them serve the same food, which can get boring. We ate in our hotel restaurant more than we usually would, but the quality and variety of food on offer was better than any outside restaurant we tried. Apart from the beach, shops and walking up and down the promenade, there is not much to actually do in Viarregio, so you may want to get out on some day trips. Pisa and Luca are accessible by train, although we found them both to be disappointing (especially Luca - what a dump!). We found the train service a bit hit and miss, although it is cheap. Consider hiring a car if you plan to get out of Viareggio. If you pick up and drop off at the airport, it will also be useful for airport transfers.Guest review byFarnboUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Arezzo had enough history and sites to keep us interested.
Arezzo had enough history and sites to keep us interested. The walkable streets, ruins, and churches were easy to get to. There were plenty of restaurants ti choose from, and it was easy to recognize places where Life is Beautiful were filmed. Friendly and peaceful!Guest review byNatividadUnited States - 8.0

A good base if your a bit more adventurous and don't mind travelling by train. For example Pisa and Florence are both reachable by train but include changing trains at various places. Montecatini itself is a little run down in places with all the spa buildings closed. A nice little town square where a few bars can be found. Montecatini Alto is a gem reached by a funicular railway and Lucca (40 mins by train) is well worth a visit.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom
