The added touch of having your breakfast delivered to your room was great. The pool was cold but the area was comfortable with space for guests to allow them to spread out. The wine tour and tasting was fabulous and only a short walk and Alice was a great host. The wine was of great quality and we bought several cases and if you stay at the hotel you receive a discount voucher for wine purchases.the restaurant had beautiful food and was a reasonable price for what we ate. The steak was cooked perfectly. We can’t wait to return.Guest review byLeanneSwitzerland

Within the walls of Lucca is a location you need to add to your bucket list there is just nothing not to like many places to see and all within walking distance. The walk or bike around the walls is worth while with lots of areas just to stop and take in all the surroundings.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The great thing about Altopascio is that it is close enough to be able to do many day trips. Within an hour from Altopascio you can get to Cinque Terre (La Spezia specifically), you can go to Pisa, Florence and even San Gimignano, a beautiful borgo townGuest review byRogerCanada - 10.0

Gorgeous hilltop village with great restaurants and a castle that you can visit with amazing views. We loved the fact that it wasn't too touristy and our trip coincided with the annual wine festival with lots of stalls and live music which we enjoyed.Guest review byEmmaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lucca is a beautiful walled city.
Lucca is a beautiful walled city. There's a lot to see if you are interested in history and culture. There are many delightful bars, pasticcerias and osterias. We would particularly recommend Caffe del Teatro for coffee and pastries. The city is small enough that you can walk out of the city into the countryside. An easy route is along the disused aqueduct path. There are also good bus and train services if you wish to go further afield. Pisa and Florence are easy to reach for a day trip. So is Viareggio. We plan to return.Guest review byMalcolmUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Very peaceful to look at the mountains while enjoying your morning coffee. Leave more time for communting to the property every day from where ever you visit, it is a small, winding road, a tunnell and not fun to do at night or after a glass of wine. I will look to stay closer to Pisa next time.Guest review byKristenUnited States - 8.0

It was quite special to stay in an ancient fortification stemming from the 1400's. The heir to this property gave us good historic background on the property. The unit is reasonable in size and was a comfortable size for 4 people although we were 6. The sleeper couch was not comfortable. The kitchen was very nice but it was not equipped to the standard of a true self catering unit. For the rest everything was just fine and we would advise anybody to come and stay here when visiting the area. The main bedroom bed was nice. The 2nd bedroom only had half walls. The little town is quaint and beautiful and worthwhile visitingGuest review byM GSouth Africa - 10.0

Great place to stay and a lot of history, arts, and culture to be explored. I didn't expect that it is such a nice and beautiful place. Would recommend to everyone, especially the cafes and tavernas. I had not enough time during my stay to see enough of all the places in Lucca - so will be back - hopefully soon.Guest review byGregorAustria - 8.0

Montecarlo is an excellent village on a hilltop close to Lucca. The village is very lively in the evening, with many restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, like in many other locations where demand exceeds supply, we had some negative experiences with restaurant owners who were rude and not flexible with tourists. Fortunately, those were a few exceptions, while most restaurants were friendly and gentle.Guest review byRiccardoItaly
