This was truly the greatest B&B experience of all over Ireland, if not in the whole world. If you are looking for a B&B to truly relax and recharge at, this is the place to be. Mark went out of his way to make us as welcome and comfortable as possible. Not only is he an incredibly caring host but also a great person to be around and talk to. Safe Haven is a beautiful place in a slightly remote area (which we loved) and easy to get to by car. The rooms are beautifully furnished, cosy, equipped with everything you could possibly need and the breakfast is heavenly. We wish we could have stayed (and talked) longer with you, Mark. Thank you for everything and see you next time. (:

A Perfect hotel. The only place to stay on Drogheda. Styled like a Royal palace with a modern touch this hotel has the best walks around it's gardens. The receptionists were very polite and helpful. The room was clean and had all the stuff we might need. Had no laundry service tho. So everything is perfect if you don't need it.

Fabulous location with amazing views over Carlingford Lough. Room was large and very clean and the shower was great. Our host, Paul, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful - he gave us lots of useful tips and even had the electric blankets switched on for our arrival! Would love to return.

If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not for you. Dundalk is a former railway town, largely built round the (now defunct) works for the GNRI and with much 19th century red-brick architecture. It has a busy high street with a lot of small shops, pubs and restaurants, none are grand, it reminds me of similar towns in the UK before planning blight took hold. A lot of effort seems to have gone into smartening the place up in recent years, which is nice. Would that other towns of its scale have survived so well it would be nothing exceptional, but as so few have, it has a real charm. As a base, it is well sited to explore the countryside around, which has a long and interesting history, with a lot of historic sites.

We went for a night away to catch up with a friend, had a delicious meal and drinks and danced till closing time. Felt so safe and the whole town had great vibes. We got up early the next morning for a sauna down by the marina. Could not recommend this any more....just melted all my hangover and troubles away. Lovely people and coffee too.

Friendly town on the River Boyne.

Friendly town on the River Boyne. Town centre is busy and has plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. Many attractions to visit locally especially Bru na Boinne ancient monuments, Boyne Valley Camino and The Mary McAleese bridge.. In town St Peter's Church is notable for the shrine to the newish St Oliver Plunkett. Ate at Al Forno Italian, very good.

The location was fine and easy to find.

The location was fine and easy to find. The staff need to be more interested in the customers. One was very kind to give my husband ice for an injury he had sustained elsewhere but the breakfast and the service was poor considering it was quiet. The soundproofing between the rooms was poor..say no more!

Beautiful area full of national folklore, scenic beauty, quiet friendly people and situated perfectly for a quiet time or for commuting to larger centres. It is within 2 minutes of the greenway that will safely allow you to walk or cycle in either direction towards Newry or Carlingford. Nearby trek in woods and mountains or can take in local castle and leprechauns in Carlingford along with plenty of eateries and hospitality. Newry is well situated within 10 minutes drive for shopping and bigger city options. There is a shale seashore running along the greenway with plenty of wildlife and seabirds to be seen. Great for evening rambles.

Dundalk in County Louth, the wee county, provided an incredible outpouring of creativity to celebrate Brigid1500. The Northern Lights Light Show in Market Square, the murals and storefronts painted with signs of Spring and Brigid, the cultural production at An Tain Theatre and the County Museum. We were there for 4 days and we made the Proper Cafe "our cafe". The staff were very welcoming and remembered us and the food was great! We also took a bus to Carlingford and enjoyed a short hike and great views of Carlingford Lough. Also, the home of Thomas Darcy McGee, and Father of Canadian Confederation.

Fabulous historic town, well loved and maintained by those who are fortunate to live there. Loved the food at McKevitt's hotel. Local pubs were good fun and staff very helpful. We rented a couple bikes and cycled the green way that takes you to Newry. Visitors need to check opening hours as some of the businesses/restaurants are closed on specific days.
