The bungalow is very pretty and clean. It has beautiful setting inside the Sidemen rice terraces. The owner is end-to-end busimessman, he runs every business imaginable. So at the property you can also rent a bike, order laundry, eat in a warung and buy stuff in his shop. The room also has fully packed minibar.

The location overlooking the Agung and the jungle is stunning, I have never seen anything like it before. Comfortable rooms and beds. We had the Penthouse and it was by far the best accommodation on our Bali trip. We loved everything in this apartment, it was spotless, with an amazing view over a valley full of palm trees. Even when it rained one day it was relaxing as we had so much comfortable space. The pool is great, too, and the restaurant as well, we enjoyed the breakfast varieties and also lunch and dinner. The staff is very nice and they arranged a tour for us with temple, water palace and rice terrace for a reasonable price.

1.) set-up We stayed at Hidden Paradise for 6 days with our two kids (9 & 10), in one of the bigger family bungalows that sleep 4 people. This was a smart choice, as those seem to be closest to beach & pool and farthest from the road. The bungalow itself was stunning. Furniture is not the newest, but still very nice. Layout with huge, half-open bathroom (like… really huge, it felt like a second living room, which is great when cleaning, drying, lotioning and bug-spaying those moving targets that are our kids) and an ample front-terrace (view towards the lush tropical garden, pool and, beyond, the sea). A fantastic view to wake up to! 2.) beach We loved the beach with its house-reef, as it is „walk-in snorkeling“ (turtle, starfish, corals, plenty of fish in front of your nose, no need to take a boat). Our 9-year-old doesn’t feel comfortable yet in deep water where her feet can’t touch the ground. Even she could do a little „safe“ snorkeling alongside the shore. The beach itself has smooth black volcano sand. Nice for a walk. It is a „living“ fishing beach, with local fishermen taking out their boat at night, returning in the morning. They can take you out for a sunrise cruise / snorkeling spots a bit further out or in Jemeluk for a relatively small price. Just ask around. 3.) pool & garden The pool was also really nice, good temperature and perfectly set underneath huge frangipani trees that give you shade from the rough heat. As the resort is one of the first built at Lipah Beach, they let enough space between the bungalows. It never feels crowded and the lush garden made us wanna hang out there all day. They seem to have maneuvered through Covid rather well. You can see that they are investing again into maintenance. They have new daybeds at beach and pool. They are working on renovating a on-site gift shop. Smaller neglected spots are being handled one after the other. Good to see that they take care of things! 4.

The peaceful setting, comfortable room, delicious breakfast and stunning gardens. This was our favourite stay in Bali! Perfectly located for easily getting to the best activities in Sidemen. We did the cooking class with their sister restaurant just 5 minutes walk away. Reception will help you with booking any tours or activities in the area. The service we received from the team at Cepik was impressive.

Amed is essentailly frequented by the diving community due to the many outstanding dive locations in the immediate vicinity, and there are numerous restaurants (Warungs) which are very reasonably priced. Easy to explore the local area by hiring a scooter.

The view from the pool is excellent.

The view from the pool is excellent. The building construction needs improving with many examples of poor workmanship, chipped bath, misaligned electricals, tiles falling off. The layout would be great for three couples as all rooms are stand alone, but did not suit our family. The lounge is open air so mosquitos and bugs meant heavy use of DEET. You have to go outside into the rain to enter bedrooms, also not great. This property needs to be finished structurally, with an entire area upstairs not completed and construction equipment lying around.

Normally, It’s a lot quieter than most other towns in Bali. Unfortunately there are major workings to fortify the beach fronts presently. Beach closures are taking place, which apparently may take a further 12 to 24 months to complete.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries.

Padang bai is a transit town for the ferries. There are plenty of eateries around. The beach is unfortunately littered with rubbish and stray dogs roam around. It’s not somewhere to stay for long. There is a dive centre so it might be good for that, but for me as a general tourist I wouldn’t take a holiday here. I just stayed for the fast boats.

A little village with one main street.

A little village with one main street. Lots of diving opportunities. There was a 3 day festival happening when we were here that had a night market and dancing, including a fire dance. We got to mingle with the locals, kind folk, which was nice. It's a pretty easy scoot to some of the temples, rice fields, waterfalls, beaches, and attractions in the area. Decent local restaurants, good massages, good accessible shore dives. Easy enough to find a scooter rental for 70k-85k per day, ask the owner of where you're staying. During our stay in late October, there was a lot of haze in the air (maybe from burning?) so unfortunately, there weren't good sunrises or sunsets.

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great...

An off beat location, which is actually peaceful and great for nature lovers, adventure seekers and history lovers. It is close to the mother temple of Bali (15 minutes), Blue lagoon diving and Snorkeling, p Pura Tirta and the most amazing rafting site. So a 3-night stay at this place is ideal to cover east Bali and then you can go to Ubud.

Seraya is definitely a place to recommend. If you are looking for authenticity, pristine beaches (Virgin beach), local culture (Lempuyang Temple, Tirta Gangga Water Palace & Local Coffee Farm, etc.), you will definitely love the place!

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven.

We stayed just one night to visit the Gates of Heaven. I feel is enough to see the surroundings and have a feel of the place. We found the tickets a bit expensive. I mean is a nice place but not to pay 10$. You can see Tirtagangga in 20 minutes, depending on whether you are an instagramer and you take selfies in every corner, then you can stay there for over an hour, although is very difficult to take good selfies as there are people everywhere. Around the entrance, there are a few restaurants and shops. But please I would say to the owners or whoever takes care of this place, tell people not to feed the fish. They are huge! and it's because the shops nearby sell food so you can take a picture with the fish.

Besakih accommodations have a beautiful location in small village, with amazing views across the valleys. The hike of Mount Agung is challenging in all possible ways and attempting during day time (heat- a big part is without shade) or without a guide in our opinion is dangerous. If travelling to Besakih you might consider having a car or motorbike as there are a lot of dogs on the street that bark and approach you unfriendly. we managed to use the transport from the accommodation. The Besakih Temple is mind blowing, the guide we had was very knowledgeable and very good at his job. Would strongly recommend visiting besakih for a minimum of 3 nights.

Loved Amed but was only there for 2 nights, would definately...

Loved Amed but was only there for 2 nights, would definately go back for longer. Beautiful people and amazing local food. Great spot if you dont want the hussle and bussle of Kuta/Seminyak or Legian. The black beach was gorgeous and the sunsets were amazing, Great place for divers/snorkelling and fishing.
