This is a great place, accessible by boat, usually from the Sundogs bar who will call the Lodge for you. Tortugal has a great restaurant & bar with reasonable prices & apart from a big lunch one day in Livingstone, we didn't eat anywhere else. They can also do a fantastic plate of chicken nachos for a light meal in the evening in those circumstances The room we had was a hut right on the river itself with a large bedroom, a great balcony & hammock. The bathroom however is small - but that is similar to many places in Central America. Hot water in both the shower & sink - unusual in Central America, but no shampoo supplied which is unusual Free coffee was available each morning from 6am & we would get this & just sit on our balcony & watch the river waking up before breakfast. Angela the Manager was superb, extremely helpful & great company at breakfast & dinner. They can do laundry for you & I would highly recommend this place.

The host was really responsive and attentive to our well-being. He made our arrival from Belize really smooth. The place is great. Not only a lost hotel but also a lost paradise. The room was really spacious and comfortable. The common shower has hot water. The food at the restaurant is DELICIOUS (bread is amazing, the sandwiches are gigantic 🤤)! Dinner time was the occasion to share with the nice people staying there. Thank you to all the ladies who were cooking with love! The receptionist never failed to answer our questions, help us and give suggestions about our stay. There are a lot of activities you can do (tours and getting a kayak in order to visit hot springs, natural sauna, waterfall). Also, my girlfriend loved the 1-hour massage. Staying at least three full days would allow you to see and do much.

Nice staff and room! It is noisy die to the road but if you live in the city it is the same amount of noise. We were so tired from our trip from Mexico city and went straight to Rio dulce it was easy for us to fall a sleep Also pick up (collectivo/public boat) from the hotel to Livingstone and other river lodges

Beautiful and cosy wooden houses on the river with good restaurant and helpful owners. Their lancia transport to the hotel is very efficient - they pick you up on hour in public lancia port by the bridge. They have kayaks for rent and its close to row to the fort. Very nice place to enjoy the river!

The accommodation is so beautiful, so much attention is given to the plants and walking routes. We really enjoyed to walk around and even saw a wild crocodile! We also did a hike on a nature trail set out by the accommodation. The bungalow was also lovely, spacious and with airco. Great food and very friendly staff.

Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing.

Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing. If you want more night life...then probably best to stay in Livingston. If you are ever in Livingston, the best Tapado was at a small restaurant Restaurante Gabby!! Unforgettable!! El Viajero didn't come close in flavor, maybe we just went on a bad day. Must see Siete Altares, beautiful waterfalls and blue turquoise water. We never felt unsafe, it's a very tranquil place in Rio Dulce.

Great spot on the Rio Dulce from which to visit other places on the river away from the congestion and noise of the towns of Livingston and Rio Dulce (actually Fronteras). The manatee preserve, the island of birds (Isla de Pájaros), Burnt Key (Cayo Quemado) and the canyon of the Rio Dulce are all relatively close. We enjoyed having lunch over at Mini-Mike’s Juke Joint on Burnt Key and at Casa Nostra in Livingston. Both of which have their own docks so we went directly by boat (arranged by Tenamit Maya for very reasonable prices).

If you travel solo you can't do anything as it's just for groups else yours are in excess of £250! It's not safe to hike to seven altars alone (I was told by locals) so it's just very far for no reason. The bus from GC was supposed to be 5 hours but it was 11!
