Great location close to city centre. They have storage room for luggage, we had to use it both before check in and after we checked out, stuff very friendly. We got quiet room with windows facing between houses but was perfect to sleep with open window for fresh air. All new and clean. Parking just next to the hotel, for 2 eur we could park the car for 20 min to bring bags to the hotel. Easy to walk to ferry harbour. Recommend for short stopover

We chose this hotel and did not regret it, the room was clean, cleaning every two days, also the room offered towels for the beach, which is very convenient. I was at the hotel for my birthday, when the owner of the hotel found out about it, she made us a surprise, decorating the room with flowers, we were surprised. The beach is 3 minutes walk from the hotel, there are also many different restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance of 2-3 minutes. On the day of departure we had an evening flight, and the owner allowed us to stay until 3 so, really appreciated that. I definitely recommend this place!

A huge thank you to the bartenders Kunal and Melanos — truly wonderful, kind-hearted people! Our family had an absolutely amazing stay at Creta Maris Resort this August. From the very beginning, the experience exceeded our expectations. We were kindly upgraded to a beautiful room with a stunning sea view, which set the tone for a perfect holiday. The entire resort was excellent in every way – the facilities, the cleanliness, the food, and the overall atmosphere made our vacation unforgettable. I especially want to mention Eleni from Customer Relations, who was truly outstanding. She went above and beyond to make our stay special. During our time there, we celebrated my wife’s birthday, and Eleni organized a wonderful dinner with a delicious birthday cake and an incredible view. It was such a thoughtful and memorable touch that meant a lot to us. Thank you to the whole team at Creta Maris Resort for making our family trip so special. We will definitely come back!

It’s a lovely property with beautiful pools on the beach. Excellent food and very well run. We are both cat lovers and appreciated that they looked after the local cats in a feeding station. We got very friendly with a multicoloured scrawny little kit we called Gypsy. Particular thanks to Sissi who sorted out an important parcel we had left in Athens very efficiently. Shout out too to Maria our lovely cleaner and Katerina in reception. The staff are all good but these three are particularly excellent. We wished we had stayed far longer

The hotel offers excellent value for money, especially for families with kids. The waterpark has a lot of slides, and there is a new aquapark project for 2025. Food is tasty and various, drinks are also OK. It is important to say that the hotel is not fancy, but it provides all that you need - and that is very good. You can also walk by the seaside road to the neighboring village, which gives you nice views. Special thanks to the manager that welcomed us at the check-in on 29 October 2024.

I was looking forward to the stay. However it didn't turn out well. Since we left, however, the hotel menagement has been in contact with us and has been more than generous in making up for our bad experience. They have made changes to their working practices, so the situation we had regarding a school staying there, won't happen again.

We were sadly only here for a quick overnight stay.

We were sadly only here for a quick overnight stay. But during our week in Crete - where we travelled to Chania, Heraklion, and Rethymno - Rethymno was by some margin my favourite destination. Where Chania's historic centre felt as if it had been totally given over to tourism, Rethymno felt more like a substantial town with plenty to explore.

Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

The city is clean (no litter !!) and the food a and drink is excellent Culturally - this is superb - if ancient history and tall tales of greek mythology are of interest - the museums are well laid out and tourist groups "directed" One significant and pleasant item is that if you are an EU resident and 65 plus you get reduced entry fees into the national museums and attractions ( ID needed)

Stalis is perfect for all ages and families.

Stalis is perfect for all ages and families. If you want partying then Malia is far enough down the road to go to and it doesn't overspill to Stalis. We ate in a different restaurant each night of our 7 night stay. It has something for everyone and great choices of food. We will return next year for sure. It has everything :)

I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20...

I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20 European Championship. For that reason i was traveling by bus to Duo Aorakia and University Sports Center. Don't have so much time to explore the city. When free, enjoy Amoudara beach.

The town is just the right size — not too big.

The town is just the right size — not too big. Its rural and local character really comes through; we even watched goat herders at work just nearby. There’s a good variety of restaurants and several shops. For those with limited mobility, there’s a convenient flat sidewalk running along the beach. If you’re willing to drive a short distance, there are plenty of stunning beaches to choose from depending on the wind direction. It’s an excellent location for beach life and all kinds of water activities. At Paralia Souda, there was also an aid for wheelchair users to get into the water — provided they’re able to transfer into the seat. There’s also lots to do nearby — one tip is to hike up to Saint Paisios Church or visit the nearby mountain villages with their amazing views towards Plakias (see the photo).

Heraklio is the Big City on Crete.

Heraklio is the Big City on Crete. That said and while it is lovely there are more enjoyable towns and getting around is relatively easy. 4 -5 days in Heraklio was enough for us and the lure of other Cretan places was greater. Overall the Cretan people are mostly welcoming which is heartening given the numbers of tourists going there that must drive them crazy at times!
