Great room, fabulous patio and garden and wonderful staff. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. This hotel has a home from home feel. Cream teas every afternoon, tea and coffee whenever you want and a small bar if you want alcohol. Guests are allocated their own parking space which is wonderful in this prime location. Next time we are in the Lake District, we will definitely book this delightful hotel. Thanks to all the staff that work in this establishment, we had a fabulous week.

We liked everything, but mostly the staff service. Each of the staff members seemed to make our stay comfortable and happy by anticipating our needs and solving any little problem we had. The morning breakfast was excellent. The Hotel is situated in a quiet but lovely center, and the entrance is easy (we had some thought when booking because the picture on the website showed many steps leading to the entrance, but when we arrived, we realized that the entrance is on the side and very convenient). Unfortunately, we didn't have time to spend in the spa but we checked it and it seems excellent.

The area was mostly fine.

The area was mostly fine. In some areas the town was looking tired. Absence of any visible street cleaning. We must have passed an area where someone had let their dog foul the pavement at least eight times as we walked up and down to our guest house and back down towards the lake I know it’s individual dog owners where the responsibility lies but even so it’s a big tourist area So one would expect a bit more pride in the area Unfortunately we won’t be rushing back to visit

Ambleside is a honey trap, necessary to help with the millions of tourists visiting the lake district just like keswick, windermere etc. There is peace and quiet to be found quite easily outside but do not expect it in the town. Ambleside is now busy 12 months of the year. Traffic is a pain and parking is in short supply. There are good eating places - not all at tourist prices - and more shops selling outdoor gear than you can shake a stick at

Kirkby is a lovely, peaceful, pretty village with wonderful scenery, especially Ruskins View which was captured in a stunning painting by William Turner in 1822. The walk along the the River Lune is so lovely and gives you a wonderful feeling of well being I would certainly recommend it. 2 days are enough time to explore , we also visited Keswick which wasn’t that far away , more than 2 days would of been too much , as it is a small lovely place , and it was November with rain , so more restricted, the lake was flooded in a certain area, but overall a lovely weekend break ,
