This was the best room I stayed in my whole trip. It was classically decorated and had fun things to look at. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was amazing--it had heated floors! Even though it was summer, I used the heated floors. So fun! The food was delicious. I had dinner and the included breakfast. The dining staff went out of their way to make my meals just right for me. The chef even came out to ask my how spicy I would like the food. I also enjoyed the friendly and open atmosphere in the dining area with the other guests. I enjoyed talking to the other guests over my meals. The restaurant called me a few hours before I checked in to ask me if I were interested in a reservation. That was a good thing because I did not realize that there would be a restaurant and I was going to pick up take away food on my drive there. All the staff at the hotel were superb and worked hard. I noticed that the management knew how to lead their staff and create a cohesiveness between the three sister hotels in the area. There was even a spa in one of the sister hotels down the road, so I got an amazing massage.

Scotland highlights

Scotland’s whisky heritage

No trip to Scotland would be complete without sampling a “wee dram”. There are 5 whisky-producing regions, where you can take distillery tours.

Legendary Loch Ness

Can you spot the famous Nessie? Legend has it this sea monster skulks beneath the waves of this 20-mile-long lake in the stunning Highlands.

Scotlands historic collection of castles

Scotland’s iconic castles are riddled with history and legends, from haunting cliff-top ruins to striking fortresses.

Edinburgh - capital of culture

The atmospheric capital has both a new and old town. Its sights and host of vibrant festivals draw in millions of visitors each year.

Championship golf courses

Played on Scottish soil for over 6 centuries, Scotland’s golf is world renowned. Enthusiasts will love the numerous historic courses and tournaments.

Serenity in the beautiful Highlands

The Highlands range over 10,000 square miles of sparsely populated terrain. Experience some of the country’s prettiest scenery, highest mountains and tastiest whisky.

Bag a Munro

A Munro is a mountain in Scotland of over 3,000 feet. There are 282 to be scaled, can you complete them all?

Ring in the new year

Hogmanay in Edinburgh is one of the world’s largest New Year’s celebrations with fireworks, live music and renditions of Auld Lang Syne.

Orkney's ancient Maeshowe

Maeshowe’s Neolithic tomb dates back over 5000 years. It was given UNESCO status in 1999.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

Loch Lomond’s bonny banks are surrounded by rugged mountains and forest. The stunning national park covers over 720 square miles.

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

This is the perfect location for a romantic weekend getaway! Location is beautiful, the lodges are so cute and right on the water, each with private hot tubs! We walked around the premises, rented electric bikes and did a 30km route that starts right on the property, so convenient. They bring you breakfast to your door every morning in this little basket.

Have you ever gone someplace and felt like: "Wow.

Have you ever gone someplace and felt like: "Wow. I'm home."? That was Inverness for me. I've been to Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen before, but I fell in love with Inverness. The people, the city, the mythology surrounding the Scottish culture, the quiet location, the music (live music every night at The Highlander). It just felt like home. We had a lovely dinner at The Mustard Seed, which I highly recommend, did one of the best walking tours I've ever experienced on our first day, and did a dolphin watching boat tour on our last day. I cried when I left. Can't wait to go back and see more of Inverness and expand to the Black Isle.

The art gallery is fantastic, lots of great exhibitions shown there.Great interactive learning stations for children+good cafe near entrance + a small coffee + cake one on 2nd floor where you can sit outside with view down the city.Footdee is a lovely old fishertown area near the huge beach+harbour. The famous Codonas beach park is expanding.Lots of great bars and places to eat.Good shopping centres but the only let down for me is Union street, the large wide main street which has lots of closed shops and looks run down.

We were only in Fort William for one night and stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel. We bought first class tickets for the Jacobite train and loved the experience. The view along the route was more than picturesque. Served tea and biscuits in a very comfortable setting during the ride. The train brought us out to the small village of Mallaig. There is an amazing seafood restaurant "The Crab and Creel" that is a must to stop at. We had an amazing lunch. We ordered the Langoustines and Mussels for starters, then the Scallops and Salmon dishes for the main, all while eating by the fireplace. I just can't say enough about what an amazing lunch we had there. I wish I had had more time to explore Fort William.

Halloween is a must in Paisley, I was taken aback at how much effort goes into this, well worth seeing. We ate in the Pendulum which was pretty average. Black Bull for drinks, it can get quite crowded but a great atmosphere and the Multan Tandoori is worth a visit great value for money and very tasty. Two Towns Down is a must, the first brewery in Paisley in 125 years, go in have a drink and you can have a conversation without loud music or a TV blaring, 22 of us arrived there and we were all looked after by the lovely helpful staff
