Excellent service and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and well-stocked with complimentary items, and the beds and pillows were especially cozy. Breakfast was delicious, with the added bonus of being able to choose from a made-to-order menu at no extra cost. Overall, the location is very convenient, and we enjoyed our stay.

1. The room was larger than I had expected. (I booked a single room). Although the room faced the street, I had no problems sleeping even with the window open. 2. A good breakfast menu offering a choice of dishes, using high quality ingredients. 3. A beer garden - the possibility to sit outside.

I didn't get to see very much as I was at a weekend work event, but I could gladly have spent an extra day there exploring. The town had a lovely vibe and some delightful old buildings. I don't think it would sustain me for a long stay but I'd be happy to come back and see a little more.

Went to watch a show at the Opera House which is a magnificent old building had a meal beforehand then stayed overnight at a local B and B. Town itself has lots of diverse eating and drinking establishments along with a nice park in its centre. Fair few artisan shops as well. Would recommend it for an overnight stay or as a base to explore other areas within the Peak District

A trip into town is a must.

A trip into town is a must. We went on a Sunday so not all artisan shops were open in the town centre but some of the larger chain shops were and there was an amazing street food festival on so the place was buzzing. We parked at the retail park on the duel carriageway where all the large stores were open like Curry's, Next, Poundland, etc and then we walked across the road into town. Plenty of cafes open too.

very good location for visiting a lot of areas in short distances of area. it was easy to get around and several good places to eat out as well as lots of fish and chip shops. We took our children to Gulliver's Kingdom which the 3-year-old loved, Heights of Abraham Buxton, Carsington water and Alton Towers, all within 30 mins travel. Local attraction 5 - 10 mins. Lovely little shops and a great book shop which was lovely with a little cafe in it. We also bought some lovely chocolate in a chocolatier and could see chocolates being hand made.

Tuesday, when we arrived, everything is closed in the evening. We couldn't find a restaurant to eat in, a lot of the pubs were closed early as it was late in the season, the ones open were full. Beautiful place though, loved it. It seemed a very safe place to wander about and everyone was very friendly. My daughter and I looked like the only ones without at least one dog. Try Bakewell pudding.

Castleton is a great location for walks.

Castleton is a great location for walks. If you don’t want to drive when you’re there you can start many trails and have a wide variety of walking experiences. Castleton is a busy destination so if you are hoping for quiet evenings you will be disappointed. Pubs are busy in the evening - the ones we went to had good friendly atmospheres but all busy! Castleton is not cheap and rooms and food prices add up. The food we had isn’t the best quality either but was fine. We ended up eating at the Cheshire Cheese and had the veggie pie. We heard a few people complain about their food there. They had good local beers. We also ate at the Nags Head. It was very basic pub fare but filled you up. If you want to rely on a local shop that’s expensive too so if you want to do it on a budget, find a larger store on your way there! The castle is very cute and worth a visit for its views too but it’s closed over winter now. Mam Tor is a busy destination but if you add it into your longer walk you can get the experience and soon be back on a quieter path and it’s a lovely view. We walked up the Cave Dale walk behind the castle to start out walk and this is a fabulous climb very very pretty to start the loop round to the Tor. We were really happy with this location for our first experience of the peaks and would likely return.

To be fair it isn't in Stockport.

To be fair it isn't in Stockport. It in a beautiful rural location with fabulous views of green countryside with a charming vista of Manchester in the distance. Yes it was! In my view ! Lol. For us it was a little out of the way mainly because I'm increasingly stressed by driving but in normal circumstances it's nice and quiet. We ate in Glossop at Napolis which was fab last time we went but this time it wasn't great! Had a great ready meal from sainsbury in New Mills! Lots of good walks and paths. Binge Watched Riot women on the big screen! We don't have a TV.

Ashbourne is a great location for visting the lower peak district. With other towns within a 30 minute drive, you can see quite a lot in a short space of time. Plenty of working located in the local area. The only downside this time was that they digging up the center of Ashbourne and this makes accessibility to the shops etc slightly more un sightly but will look amazing when finished.
